Me and Orion were discussing an idea about having a show on the east coast. And nothing represents the East Coast like the Jersey shore, right? So what would you think about me organizing a meet for us in Sleazeside (er, Seaside I mean) for August 07? I was thinking we could arrive on a Friday, party, spend a day at the beach Saturday & car show saturday night, and then Sunday at the track?
I could book a bunch of rooms at one of those slightly nasty hotels in seaside, where we could freely drink & stuff.
Anybody got any ideas for AGABB? Anyone interested?
Orion
07-17-2006, 10:10 PM
As Naich (Nick) stated we are looking for people interested, so we can keep track of everyone and get an overall idea as time rolls by. (the next few months) We will start to really put things together with numbers and dates and such in March or so. But for now, who is Interested? I know we can get people from the USA all up and down the East Coasts, along with Canada.:)
List of People will be started alittle later :P

ga owners are aholes for the most part.
and this is awfuly far in adavance to ask people wether or not they would be able to come isnt it?
why dont the east coast guys come to lansing for ASS and homecoming? this way you would see plenty of aleros along with supporting the oldsmobile club of america.
if aftermath can drive 20 hours from texas eastcoast people should be able to drive it as well.

You're talking about Aug 2007 now?!?!? 13 months away. It's not that far for me to drive, but that's way too far ahead for me to plan
Naich
07-18-2006, 06:55 AM
yeah, august 07. I'm not actually asking ppl to commit right now, just trying to put something out there.
And about ASS, I don't see any problem with having 2 shows. Personally, with my schedule, I can't make it to Lansing all the time. It is a really long drive. And this would be able to hopefully draw ppl from up and down the coast.
Right now this is mostly about getting ideas for the meet.

well, they normally suspend licenses when we get to 12 points. I have 17 and I just got a ticket on Sunday night...a big one too. I might have enough to suspend 2 licenses.

I was either thinking a magnet we could put on the hoods like this one (Gumball 3000 Magnet)
http://www.bmwworld.com/racing/images/gumball3000_e36.jpg
or a flag like used at GAP
Whats your guys thoughts?

07-18-2006, 12:13 PM
well good luck. i for one will not be able to go.
there is nothing wrong with 2 events for aleros. but you don't want them too close to each other thats for sure.
so are guys going to rent a track? be prepared for massive cost on that. also. before you guys go thinking about all these fancy things to give everyone you might want to figure cost of registration if your going to have one.
well at least you will have the GA people to do most of it.
Orion
07-18-2006, 12:35 PM
Umm we will probley not rent the track, seeing as thats crazy expensive. Plus we don't see this being a huge huge event. If we got 25 cars, i would be happy. It's all just an idea now.
AlbinoMonkeyRat
07-18-2006, 12:44 PM
but if we can make sure everybody at least knows that there is an idea floating around, it might perk some interest and maybe some people can get some potential sponsors, or at least cheap free stuff to offer as door prizes and whatnot.
But we definitely need something in August because:
-August is sooooo boring as it is
-June has ASS and September has the Falls meet(s), July is typically busy for everyone anyway
-who else was actually going to take a vacation in August anyway? Getting time off should be NO problem, except for military people and newly hired people.
Question though:
is this just going to be for the LAST Gen. of the N-Body, as in 99-04 Grand Ams, Aleros, and 97-03(?) Malibus, or are we including all the Grand Ams, and modern Malibus also?
Orion
07-18-2006, 01:19 PM
I haven't discussed that( The Years and Models) with Nick but I think anything will go there AlbinoMonkeyRat. As for door prizes and stuff, I think we could put together some prizes and stuff for the show, and also for the track. WE will figure this out as time passes, such things would be put into the cost and all ofcourse. I mean if we could get sponsors to give prizes that would be great, but we shall see. Thank you AlbinoMonkeyRat for supporting the idea ;)

NYIRP (quarter-mile track in NY) charges $500 for renting a track for a group of 1-10 vehicles for a 6 hour session, and $50 per vehicle after that. I would assume the NJ track has a similar ballpark for the prices, correct?
NjRef511
07-18-2006, 03:50 PM
I'd think that they would want to check out Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. I'm pretty sure thats the closest track to fleaside. Why not have something like this down in Wildwood, then go to Atco?

Not to take this totally off-topic, but a friend of mine in college racked up 33 points before he got his license taken away. When he got his court date moved out from Finals week to the end of the summer but of a speeding & resisting arrest incident he figured "I surely have over 12 points now so I'm gonna lose my license. Guess it doesn't matter what I do now." He proceeded to speed and make illegal turns all summer. By the time the court date came, all of the other tickets started rolling in and viola! - 33 points!

I am planning on going to ass next year. this year we're trying to save up for a condo, so that kind of put the axe to the idea of going this year. Plus I only have 2 weeks vacation, and i had to use a lot of it up with my family cruise earlier this year and my mom-in-law's cancer fight. But I plan on going to ass, and running this august meet both.

Wow that took me like a good 20mins to read through this whole thread. LOL! I would be in to go!!! It's only 6hrs & 40mins from Western NY (Rochester). The only way I will not be able to go is: If something happens to my baby (my car DUH!), OR if my lisence is suspended by then since I have 10pts. on mine and Ny suspends it 12 and more. But I would be really looking forward to going & I'll have to get all my friends to go for our summer "All girls vacation". This year it was Myrtle Beach, But next year I think NJ would be nice especially b/c it's only a 7hour drive rather then a 15 hour drive. But I'M IN!!! Hopefully there's more people who will like to go so it will turn out to be more then like 5 people showing up.
