It just blows regular temp air.... checked the fuses... everything looks good.

Is it the compressor? how would i check it? and how hard is it to change/price??

HA mine just stopped working today as well.

Worked at 12:30pm today, on the way home from work but not at 7:30pm on the way to work.

Can I just get one of those little rechage tanks for $25? and does it take the r-134 or the r-12. I get them confused. One is for old cars

new cars take r134. your best of tryin to recharge it first........ that way you know if it just needed charging or if you have a more expensive problem

i agreed, mine never worked when i bought the car, got it recharged, works great now.

if you take it somewhere have them add some dye just incase you lose your air again they'll be able to find the leak

dont think you can add dye into the a/c system bud

sure ya can...it can only be seen with a blacklight though. its specail a/c dye, not like food coloring

heres where you get it....

Yeah I've seen that dye.

I searched the board and found to check the fuse under the hood, that's fine, check the compressor, it works. next try the recharge.

Where is the nipple to fill it up at? I know it's like a quick disconnect. I really didn't look for it yet (at work) but a quick look I didn't see it

the recharge kits actually have the flourescent oils in them. (at least the ones I used)

so you can recharge new cars. i've heard from people that you can ONLY do it to old ones. ok, good to know. i'll have to do that this weekend... then let you guys know how it went.

Yeah, I right behind you, if I get time this weekend (probably Monday)

Damn, I just remembered I gotta change the oil too

Same here, bought my new one in the spring when it was still pretty cold so I didn't find out for awhile that it didn't work, it took 1.25lbs of r134 and works great

yeah i got mine right before winter, what really got me was the compressor still turned on, just not cold.

Its engaging but still blowin hot? Check ur low and high side pressure lines, low high pressure and low low side pressure means u got a bad compressor but since its engaging u might have a restriction in one of ur lines. Just moving the compressor a lil bit can restric the lines. U might want to check ur refrigerant cuz it might be time to recharge the system up.

where is the "spicket" to recharge the A/C? ( i have the v6) is it the on front left, as soon as you pop the hood...

i got a can with a hose and gauge... but the attatchment doesn't fit. what am i missing here?

look for low and high side pressure lines, u can always tell the low side from the high side cuz the opening is bigger and same with the line. I have the 2.4 and mine on the passanger rite rite after the compressor

No sorry to tell you this, but it's down behind the alternator, if you look down there, you'll see it, it has a blue cap on it.

The one just under the hood is the high side, you can't hook up a charging hose to that side. It's impossible. But if you do the can will explode.

Wear gloves, I got that crap on my thumb on Sunday and today it hurts a bit.

Mine has a more serious problem :( It already had 28 lbs in the system, I topped it off to 40, but it still doesn't work. I hope it's just a relay, but how do you check relays?

relays are cheap, just replace it

If it aint the relays u may be over charging the system, a lot aint a good thing

Oh and for connecting the gauges u do check high and low side pressure, high side has a shradder valve just like low side so i can hook it up, u gotta check for restrictions in the system

I messed around with the relays a bit, but couldn't get them out. I don't want to break anything. How do you get them out, just pull and wiggle them?

Some are grey, some are black, are the black ones and grey ones different? Will Autozone or Pepboys have relays?

I'm also thinking it's number 13 in the underhood fuse box. It is the one for the HVAC system, but in my Haynes book it says the HVAC goes to the a/c clutch, and back to the diode (sp) which is the little black thing that looks like a fuse, but has an arrow on it instead of a number.

The system works, all the postions on the fan speed work fine, it will change direction with a turn of the 'vent direction' knob it just blows hot air and at times it feels a little cooler (not much, could be my mind playing tricks) and yes the a/c button is pushed in.

I also don't think it the compressor. It didn't make any noise befoer it stopped working. Didn't squeal, or click. The plug is still connected on the compressor too. Worked fine on the way home from work, then didn't work going to work 8 hours later.

AHHHHHHHHH driving me nucking futs!!!!!

lol u got a restriction in ur system, it could be lots of factors in it, evap freezin up, compressor not workin, stuck open or closed valves, just check ur low and high side line pressure with gauges it does help

I hope you're right.

I've given up!! I bought a new Diode today, and tried switching around a few relays, and it didn't work.

Like I said the clutch on the compressor will not kick on. It does spin frrely when I jabbed it with a broomstick:(
