Well, I bought my alero last week and already the front windows are making strange sounds when I put them up. After inspecting them, I noticed scratches on both windows. I haven't much experience with buying cars as this is my first one. If there is anyone here from Ontario, are you aware of any sort of lemon law. I was told I have 30 days for the dealer to fix any problems. I'm a little pissed about this as I wanted to tint my windows. Also, my cigarette lighter wasn't working and when I changed the fuse it sparked, burnt the new fuse and obviously isn't working. I'm a little worried here as this is only the 9th day that I've had the car. Any advice as to what these problems could be would be appreciated. Thanks!

Window motor is going, window is partially off the track.

Window motor is going, window is partially off the track.
common problem, so i guess its not really a "lemon" of an alero

Yeah. Either off the track, and either motor, regulator or both are going.

does the 12v power source on the passenger side of the car work?

i'm getting the window scratches also. Is there a way to properly set it back on the track?

the scratches could be a result of grit caught in the rubber part of the window. cleaning it while the window is down may help.

Thanks guys, I figured that was the problem, I am taking it into the dealer tomorrow, hopefully they'll cover it. Oh, and no the 12V outlet on the passenger side isn't working either.

Well apparently the problem with the windows isn't the pads or anything, it's dirt and debris in the track. So they aren't doing anything about it. Now, with the 12V outlet, the dealer replaced the 20 amp fuse (which is supposed to be in there) with a 30 amp. It seems to work now, but will this cause problems? I know this is basic knowledge but I honestly don't know too much about cars and car electronics. Thanks again for all the help!

it may cause problems, you shouldn't put abigger fuse in because it will let more power go through than is allowed, but i guess if they figure it will handle it...then???? make sure its noted on your repair order that they did this incase something happens

yeah, I just went to plug in my cell phone charger and it's not working, this guy at the dealership is screwing me, and I am getting really pissed. I spent a lot of money on this car and I love it, but this dealer is a squid (for lack of a better word) and I have just about had enough of this.
in business sticking a bigger fuse in is not a problem solved, it's retarded
there's probably a short somewhere along the lines from the fuse box to the accessories

yea just keep taking it back......and make sure u have tons of notes on the problems, that you have taken it in, and what they have done to fix it.......if the same problem keeps reaccuring after the 30 day when it was noted before.......it should be warrantied until they properly fix the problem..........

I'm taking it into some garage that I was referred to on Friday, so hopefully the problem with be solved. I'm sick of crooked dealers pissing around with things. I spent top dollar on this car and I expect everything to work!
