Hello,
I hydroplaned a couple of weeks and now have an engine compartment full of mud and dirt. Would there be any problems of me taking the car to the car wash and use a pressure sprayer to clean it out? What precautions should I take?
Thanks,
Tim

wrap a plastic bag around the tb & maf. if you're really concerned, just use a garden hose instead of the high pressure washer. you should be fine

i used orange grease cleaner, sprayed it all over engine, then used a garden hose and it came out great

you will be fine. sometimes having the car running while you clean it is good just incase.

I generally fill a bucket with water and some simple green and use a sponge to clean off all the crud and stuff. Then use a garden hose to rinse it clean. Just let it sit in the sun with the hood open for a few hours to dry and you'll be set.

I've washed mine all out at the car wash several times and never noticed any problems. Just make sure you dont do it in excess cause that could cause some problems.

TB? Maf?
As for the rest, this sounds like it could be easy. Thanks for the advice.

Oohhk. :) I know where the throttle body is, but what about the MAF? Where abouts is that?

and don't spray a super hot engine. sudden cooling is not good for blocks and heads.

/\ /\ yep, that's what I was going to say. Make sure you do it first thing in the morning. And I WOULDN'T take it too the car wash, unless it's right around the corner. A couple times each summer, I spray the whole enging compartment down with simple green (full strength), let it set for about 10 minutes (in the shade), then hose it all off. Works great.
