Can you wire an amplifier and 2 12" subs to the stock sterio head unit? How hard would this be to make possible? or should i just install the Sony Xplod CD/Reciever unit i have.. only problem with that is that its installed in the minivan, which belongs to mom, and she loves the subs /amp and cd player in there.. (CD reciever is mine, but the minivan is hers.. and she loves the sterio)

you should see how many looks people give when you cruise down the road in a 1993 dodge caravan while shaking other peoples windows..:p

well you'll need to wire a remote turn on either way. if you wanna keep your factory unit, either run your remote 12V wire from the battery with a switch, or find a wire to tap in with ignition/on position. if you install the head unit, you have to find the same wire to turn on the cd player, and then run your remote off of the amp cont. on your head unit, and the amp will turn on on when the head unit does.

to get the signal from a factory head unit use either line output converters at best buy or so, to run rcas to the amp. or if the amp has high level input, spice off of the speakers and into the HLI. Obv. from the aftermarket head unit just run the RCAs to the amp

It shouldnt be that difficult to hook up an amp to your stock deck.

First, grab a line out convertor from like best buy or circuit city. This will get spliced in with your rear speaker leads. You can splice in right behind the head unit or at the speaker. If you splice in at the head unit the rca wire will already be ran if you decide to switch to an aftermarket. The right rear speaker colors should be blue +/light blue - and the left rear one should be brown +/yellow -
Next, you will need a switched 12v source to cut the amp on. I personally wouldn't tap from the battery and use a switch, if you forget and dont switch it off then the amp will just run until your battery dies. With that said I suggest one of the following ways.

1. You can tap into the ignition/starter wire. this wire is located at the ignition harness. It is usually pink or brown. However if you dont have much eperience installing, I wouldnt try it.

2. Find the switched 12v wire that turns your radio on or if you have a factory amp use the wire that turns it on. the only problem here is that alot of Aleros dont have a switched 12v because of an advanced databus system. Chances are that if you have a 2002 or newer that you will have this problem.

3. use a fuse tap and tap into a switched 12v. A good fuse to try would be your ws wiper fuse.

4. Get you system installed by a pro, no h*********aches and you know itll get done right.

With all that said, the best route would be to use the sony deck. The install will be easier and you subs will sound better also
