Well, my alero has only 64,000mi. on it (28,000 put on by me), and for the 4th time my regulator/motor quit on me. I am getting really sick of this crap because each one only lasts me about 2 oil changes then it craps out. This time it wasnt the regulator, but the motor. It ran fine one day, but the next it sorta all of the sudden peeterd out. I was just wondering if it could be contributed to the heat we in Ohio had a couple weeks ago (because it died right at the end of the heat wave)? I mean, i went on a trip and she worked, then 2 days later it died. How long do all of yours typically last??? Thanks all....

Mine's gone twice, lasted about 8 mothes before i had to get a new one, and it was just the resistor both times... i simply try not to use air or heat unless i have to

after it was fixed those times did it seem to be under stress when it went up?

^^^ no, not really. really, the last one i got was the best of all of them, it went up and down rather fast and without hesitation. before it died this time however, it jerked up and down before it finally quit...

aren't you getting a 12/12 warranty on these parts?

i mean if its such a problem, look at your sunk cost already and bite the bullet and take it to a stearship and get warranty on the whole job

hah, i called around the first time it happened and the only dealership that could get the part in wanted $440 for the regulator and $150 to install it. but i will definately try this now because this is insanse for a car i have only put 28,000 miles on...

only problem i had with mine was the motor sticking after sitting for a year, rapped on it with a hammer a bit and made it go up and down several times and it works like new.

only problem i had during the heatwave was the rearview falling off

I never had a problem w/my window motor. I even had my car sitting for 3 1/2 mons. untouched when i was studying abroad in Germany.
