RPM Question

Question: for those of you with the 3400... at aproximately 70-75 mph, what are your RPM's at??? Mine are running in the low two's and i dont know if it is normal or not.

Sometimes, after a while of driving 70-75 mph, my engine will kick (i feel a jolt) from low two's to around 3 1/2 RPM's, and remain like that until i exit the freeway, and the next time i accelerate from 0 mph all gear shifts will kick hard.....


sound familiar?? is it a tranny problem??? of course i cant get the mechanic to experience it happening...

2-2.5, its normal. Obviously your rpms will jump after changing gears to get more power, but how hard is this jolt?

At 70 MPH mine cruises about 2200, but before the intake and exhaust is was closer to 2500 to 2750 at 75.

Sound like you had a misfire. My car did the same thing when it started missing. What kind of plugs do you have?

wouldnt a missfire throw the ses light?

It has happened more then once, i drive to college on the freeway 4-5 times a week and it will happen maybe 2-3 times.. the jolt is noticeable, lik something that should not happen normally, and yes it has thrown the ses light before, but not every time.
