To run a microwave in my car? I was thinking of running a 2nd battery and hooking up a 1000 - 1500 watt power inverter to it. Would that be enough and would it even work? I know some work vans have stuff like that in it but IDK how it all works.

Before anyone says anything, it sounds really funny wanting this in my car but I work security on the night shift and have no access to anything to heat food up with.

Actually I know of a lot of people who cook things on their engine, lol..

Can't you just use a power inverter...and rev it to like 5k???Lmao...the power inverter should work though shouldn't it??? Just set the microwave to low power????

im pretty sure its possible. seems like something that west coast customs did on pimp my ride IIRC.

Easily possible.. except the inverter you truly need is rather expensive compared to a normal 1000 w inverter..

You'll need a "True Sinewave" type of inverter..

And of course.. get the smallest micro -microwave you can..

800w microwaves are common anything less would be better if they exist..

If you got with a regular everyday inverter of 1000w and up.. expect to buy a new microwave every year or so.. .. but microwaves are cheap.. might be cheaper in the long run..

LOL! Can't come between a guy and his food! You should call up west coast customs and ask them. ;)

My parents have a 1000 watt inverter on their econoline van and it works fine but they have a V8 and I have a V4 with a highly upgraded sound system. I was thinking if the 2nd battery would be able to hold en extra charge that it would be possible

I can run a coffee maker and a small micro off a 1200 watt inverter. Have to start the micro first due to surge. Will need at least 4 gauge cable to power the inverter and get it as close to the battery as possible. You need an old style micro with the dial timer not digital, Even in the transport I run the engine with the microwave it works better. It's got 4 battery's but micro draws pretty good. If you can't get it close to the Battery or use to small a cable you will get voltage drop. If you don't have proper input voltage it will get hot and burnout real quick. I use the 1200 model from Canadian Tire, has 2 yr warranty, and remote turn on. Was $230 with tax.

Forgot, you can get a cook stove at Canadian Tire that heats to 350 degrees. It plugs into the cig lighter.

I was looking at that 1200 watt inverter from c-tire as well but could not find anything like a cook stove for the cig lighter. A microwave would prob work out well since it does not heat up and the fire factor is almost totaly removed. I think I can get a small microwave that runs 1100 watts at peak and get the 1200 watt inverter and I should be fine I think. I might make a power cutoff for the amps in my car so I am able to run the inverter for a few mins at a time but that should be an easy fix.
