Uhmm So this is what happened. I blew the engine in my car and Im not sure which way to go about things. I'm kinda looking for suggestions. And yes before you ask, I was hard on a stock, and I blew a piston and a little more..... Only 80 thousand Km.

Should I go with a new engine block and build from the ground up? Or auto wrecker one?

Also What should I go with for blueprints type. ie; pistons, cams and that sort of stuff.

Thanks
Adam

80k kms and she blew? somethin else went wrong man....i was brutal on mine, and even with two cylinders having less then 40lbs compression, it still runs at 194 000kms...

depends what you wanna get out of the car....i picked up an auto wrecker one with a 5spd on it for 500$CAD....and i'm gonna put just bolt ons on it so i can still drive, and the worn out one will get bored over, low compression pistons, turbo kit, new fuel management...the works

but if you just want a daily driver, get a cheap one(that has some sort of warranty) and you're good to go

call local junkyards. I got a engine w/about 30,000 miles on it for $950 shipped. it helps i switched the engine myself though so there is no labor. My 2.4 blew the same way yours did.

The cheapest quote I got was 950 with 135,000 km. and no intake. Is the Ecotec swap hard? What's it intel?

Shouldn't be that hard at all. Get an Eco engine and mounts, its radiator and its ecu from a junkyard. It uses the same tranny and the same mounting points, and since Aleros came with the Eco from 2002 and up, it's basically plug and play. Unplug all the wires and take out the old ecu, pull the blown engine, drop in the new one and its ecu, plug everything back in, refill all fluids and you should be good to go.

Now, I've never done this (I do plan on it very soon) so I'm not speaking from experience. But everything should go in fairly easily. I wouldn't say it's a weekend job unless you really knew what you were doing or unless you let a shop do it.
