My car has just under 11,000 miles and is due for an oil change. I hear that you can change from regular dino oil to synthetic anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 miles. I would like to keep my car in great condition - especially the motor - so I would like to do what is best for it. So what does everyone suggest with oil and oil changes? When do you think I can switch to synthetic? I dont plan to wait longer than 3,000 miles for an oil change, so thats not a problem. What oil filter and oil do you recommend?

I switched at just over 20k, but you should be fine. I highly recommend Royal Purple.

My car has had synthetic since the first oil change (6200 miles?). I switched my chevy over when i bought it at like 72k.

I use the Mobil1 5W30 in all the cars.

I would strongly suggest checking out the www.bobistheoilguy.com web site and doing some research. I was a faithful M1 5w30 user until I spent a lot of time on that site (nothing to do at work). They have plenty of used oil analysis results from people with the ecotec and various oils. There is tons of useful data there on different brands of oil.
