8lbs worth $800?

Ok, so i am looking at the 5zigen FN01R-C wheels and the FN01R wheels...they look almost the same their manufacturing methods and weight are just different. oh and the r-c wheels

My question is does rotating mass really make that big of a difference for me to justify the extra $800. These would be my street wheels on my new setup.

FN01R-C wheels - 17"x8" - approx. 17lbs - Around $200

FN01R wheels - 17"x8" - approx. 15lbs - Around $400

Tell me what you think, thanx, oh yeah and no matter what wheels I get they will be fitted with some meaty 255/40/17 tires.....

well what are you going to do with the 800 if you decide not to? if your gonna save it up and put it into performance, i would def go with that route......

do both sets LOOK the same? Are you doing more than drag racing? (ie: are you also doing auto-x or road course?)

if they look the same AND you're doing just drag, get a pair of the lighter ones for the drive and a pair of the cheaper ones for the drag. However, if you're doing twisties, get a full set of the lighter ones, because there's no way that a pound is worth $100 on a drag car.

edit: n/m about the looks, I read it a little better...d'oh

let me answer your question with a question. Does a lightened pulley do any good for rotational mass?

Answer: of course it does. Enough to justify $800?

Up to you.

since our cars don't have 400-500hp and don't weigh 2500lbs i say yes the less weight is worth it if you are about speed. with our cars every little bit helps.

Not only will it reduce rolling weight...but it will also reduce unsprung weight. Worth 800??? Up to you.

Worth 800?

Yeah it's still your call, but my lightweight rims where $550 and they weight 18 lbs, so if your looking to save 3 lbs per wheel, I'd probably do it
