So I tinted my tails and had a lot of orange peel so I sanded it down w/1500 grit sand paper and now it's dull. I was thinking of taking a little electric sander to it w/the 1500 grit still and hoping it goes shiny (maybe switching up to the 2000 grit). and then taking the electric buffer to it. Just wondering if anyone did a bad job like i did. or had this problem. :(

were you WET sanding babe? (ie: sandpaper was SOAKED with water)
if not, it is recoverable. probably won't be necessary to get the electric sander. The buffer won't be a bad idea.
I don't know if you saw MY how to on this, so I'll re-type it. (not sure how well this will apply to you though...
1) prep (clean, file off the lettering if you want)
2) light coat
3) wetsand (high grit, 1500+)
4) light coat
5) wetsand
6) optional: 3rd coat and wetsand again
Final) clear coat and buff

clear coat is where it's at. you have to clear them again if you want it to look nice. don't sand after that last clear, tho

sanding does leave the finish dull. like i said tho, clear coat will shine it up

out thanks guys! So I think i'm going to go ahead wash them b/c they have wax and shining compound crap on them and then sand them to make sure their smooth so when i clear coat them i won't get so much orange peel on there. Then use the electric buffer b/c it's probably fun to use. :D

is it necessary to sand the tails before tinting them? what kind of clear coat do you use after you tint them?

From the tint ive seen just normal old auto clear should work and you just spay it on but make sure its real clean and there is no dirt grease or wax on it.
