View Full Version : Dumbass question, yet again!
So, if I win a body kit on eBay. Do I just have to paint the body kit or should I have the whole car painted? Also, is Maaco good, because that's the only painting place I've ever heard of? I'm a moron, I know.

ill answer before this site tears you apart lol
yes you will have to paint the kit, and only the kit. They have to blend the kit to the color of your car.
Maaco sucks, its a 3 month paint job that will crack and peel after said 3 months.

For paint, go to a good body shop, or the dealer.
If you put the kit on yourself. it's ok to not get it painted, and they drive to the body shop your getting it painted at

You must have the body kit painted. There are laws in most states forbidding the display of unpainted body kits on vehicles.
On the other note, I had a bumper painted at Maaco and the paint was decent and has held up just fine.

MACCO SUCKS!!!! stay far far far away from macco, i can`t tell you how many fucked up paint jobs i had to strip off due to macco butchers
it also depends on what color your car is and if you want it to match, we can get the color close but it will never ever match on the head, so that`s why we blend the next panels so it does match
but quality does not come cheap, you get what you pay for in the automotive field, now my take on dealerships is mixed some of them do great work but some of them are completes hack`s , and all the body men and painters are in the union, which kinda means if a tech saw what you want done and don`t want to do it he won`t lol and get the union rep involoved blah blah blah lol
my advice to you would be ask around your area for a good quality shop that does custom work not collision and custom but just custom work your kit will look much better from a custom body man then a collosion body man
best of luck to you

Eh, most unions are good, some suck.
And I agree with PPG on dealership's off and on quality, I saw some bad stuff when I worked at one, alot of the employees don't give a rat's ass

yup...best thing to do is find a customization shop that specializes in painting or body work, again the old saying pops up..."you get what you pay for"
