Post up some pictures, im tryin to get an idea of what to do for my headlights... mainly the outside turn signal area where you need to tape it off. Ive seen some cars completely blacked out on the corners and some just taped off... so POST EM UP IF YOU GOT EM!

Every time i search for pics on this forum it never shows old pictures... it shows there posts but not the pics... dont ask me why hah...

And what Jackal did is one of the ways I had been contimplating beings my car is black. But that might be to dramatic of a change beings my car itself is black.

well the reason being not all fo the old pictures made it over when we switched boards...it would have taken entirely too long to transfer them all over

We had gone with just clearing the corners, no paint, no tint, nothing fancy.

Now that looks sharp, only thing i would do is take the amber bulb out and put a clear one in........ i havent been pulled over yet for having clear bulbs, one of my turning signals is out acutally, and still no trouble(the small bulb is out)

Yeah I hear you on that one billytheman1188. But I actually have the same turnsignal bulbs as 00oldsalero, the blue tinted looking ones that flash orange by Sylvina. There is just a boat load of glare in the pic.

I love the polished rims. I think they look so much better than the brushed aluminum stocks.

Silicones, or polysiloxanes, are inorganic-organic polymers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer) with the chemical formula [R2SiO]n, where R (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Functional_group) = organic groups such as methyl, ethyl, and phenyl. These materials consist of an inorganic silicon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon)-oxygen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen) backbone (...-Si-O-Si-O-Si-O-...) with organic side groups attached to the silicon atoms, which are four-coordinate. In some cases organic side groups can be used to link two or more of these -Si-O- backbones together. By varying the -Si-O- chain lengths, side groups, and crosslinking, silicones can be synthesized with a wide variety of properties and compositions. They can vary in consistency from liquid to gel to rubber to hard plastic. The most common type is linear polydimethylsiloxane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polydimethylsiloxane) or PDMS. The second largest group of silicone materials is based on silicone resins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicone_resin), which are formed by branched and cage-like oligosiloxanes.

i used a high powered hair dryer, and it took about 1/2 hour of heating and pulling apart slowly with my hands, or you could use a heat gun but the heat gun is very touchy to use, it would melt the plastic in a heartbeat. i would heat it up for a bit, and use an xacto knife to slice the glue with. then i used the blue painters tape to mask off what i still wanted chrome, and sprayed it with satin black.

Oven 170 degrees + 15 min = Headlights practically fall apart.

I shoulda thought about the dryer idea to get all that gooooo out of the seal area. I just filled it and caulked it, worked fine.

hey can anyone tell me how to clear my headlight corners ...or where i can buy them???also can anyone tell me if using 1.75 inch lowering springswill mess up the geometry of the car too much???/

jturkey69
11-08-2006, 12:11 AM
welcome, and by looking in the how to section, it will show you how to do it. and 1.75 will not mess up the geometry much, but as with any lowering i would have an alignment done as soon as you can afford to
