I've heard some down sides of Drilled and slotted Rotors and my cars an every day driver and I can't really afford to be putting new pads on all the time and having some wierd noises coming from my car so I'm debaiting on getting Drilled and slotted rotors or maybe just getting some OEM Rotors..

I have heard from lots of people that drilled and slotted are more of a show thing. They dont actually improve stopping distance and tend to crack around the holes. When I replaced the rotors on my Impala I was talked out of doing drilled and slotted and I ended up getting Brembo replacements from tirerack.com and they are great. So if you get the brembo replacements and some nice track/street pads like the Gransport GS6 Carbon Ceramic pads that I put on with my brembo rotors you will be very happy and I would think it would run you about $200.00 dollars for the parts.

i have drilled and slotted rotors from r1 concepts on ebay with ceramic pads. I have had them for a year now, no funny noises, no problems, and the best thing no warping like oems seem to do within the first year. IMO the people that say drilled and slotted rotors are bad are the same ones that constantly bash cai's cause they cause hydrolock in 1/4" of rain.

regardless of what this guy says, Kurt_Zee drove his alero to my house when we were clearning a set of corners or something and he drove my alero back to his house so we could get some more parts (i was drinking, so no driving) and he noticed a huge difference...

from their site It’s a fact that venting the gas emitted by hot brake pads improves overall brake performance and helps minimize fade. At one time the conventional wisdom in racing circles was to cross-drill brake rotors to aid cooling and eliminate the gas emitted by brake pads. However, today’s elite teams in open wheel, Indy and Trans Am racing are moving away from crack-prone, cross-drilled brake rotors in favor of rotors modified with a fatigue-resistant slotting process.
here's the the cracking part...it also warns not to use on a racetrack....

he slot designs of Power Slot rotors are angled to use the rotors’ direction of rotation to enhance performance. This makes them side specific with left side (driver’s) and right side (passenger’s) rotors.
Power Slot rotors are designed to beat the challenges of high performance driving and severe duty brake demands, and represent one of the most cost-efficient performance brake upgrades offered in the market today.

Rotors resist cracking, warping and fading.
Rotors last 2-3 times longer. Fewer pads and rotors are needed.
Rotors stop consistently and predictably, lap after lap

I put those PowerSlot II's on mine. They are slotted and dimpled.

I feel a difference in stopping

The only down side is they can't be cut

My mom's truck ('02 GMC Sierra Denali) came from the factory with drilled rotors. There were no adverse effects on the rotors due to the holes. They were only removed once when they were changed (at about 40,000 miles) because they were grooved on the inside (which would've happened to any rotor). I replaced them with some new Baer Decelarotors and they still work fine.

I've heard slotted are better then drilled. Less stress on the rotors when they are just slotted. The Nissan has some nice new Powerslots on it, however, it not having a running motor or calipers on it, make it hard to tell if they stop better, lol

Well yestarday I went and got my brake pads put on and a bunch of other probelsm came up I saw for myself.
*Needed New Calibers b/c my old ones were wearing my inner brake pads very very pad and my outer brake pads were still fine...
*Needed New Inner Brake Pads.
*New Rotors..
I ended up getting Wagner Calibers, rotors,Ceramic wagner pads. Life time warranty on all of it and it all put on estimated price 550.00 dollars..
I only paid 448.00 bucks in cash I know the manager so I got a decent deal but now I'm broke as heck..
Oh and I found out that I have a small leak on one of my gaskets I heard alero's with the 3.4 v6 are natorious for leaking engine coolant is what the dude said but not sure what the gasket is called but its nothing Major at the momment just 900 bucks to fix it x_x

^your calipers were fine probably. Your inner brake pads where faster than your outer...atleast mine always have.

lower intake manifold gasket is what he was talking about.

And, it is generally a good idea to change your brake pads whenever you put on new rotors. They're not that expensive.

The LIM is a major thing. Let it go and it could mean new mota for you. Get it fixed! and it won't cost you $900 More like $600 or so at a dealership. Unless you are good mechanically, then do it yourself.
