today on the way home from school my car started acting up on me again. Its idling up really high (about 2k rpm in P/N). In gear it keeps trying to rev but obviously the brakes are stopping it. I am worried that i will overheat the tranny if this keeps up very long. When i got home i looked at the TB and it seemed to be fine. I didnt remove the intake to check inside, but the linkage worked fine. Has anyone else had this problem before? If so how did you fix it? thanks in advance for any help
Did you recently put on a CAI or WAI?

could be the IAC motor.(Idle Air Control) It is located on the throttle body. Round motor with 2 screws holding it to the throttle body.

i checked it out today. The IAC was dirty so i cleaned it with carb cleaner and also cleaned the small hole in the throttle body that goes up to the IAC. After that i reinstalled the IAC and cleaned the TB. Unfortunately it is still idling very high. I dont have a DVOM

i checked it out today. The IAC was dirty so i cleaned it with carb cleaner and also cleaned the small hole in the throttle body that goes up to the IAC. After that i reinstalled the IAC and cleaned the TB. Unfortunately it is still idling very high. I dont have a DVOM so i cant really check the valve itself. I did unplug it when the engine was running and it didnt effect it at all. I dont remember if that means the valve wasnt working for some reason or if that was supposed to happen. Can somebody please help me.

It could be a TPS problem. Any kind of service engine light on or hard start when hot or cold? If you have access to a OBD II scanner you might want to hook that up and see if all parameters are ok. Hell even check the fuel pressure regulator. I've seen stupider things at the shop that I work at.
