I got pulled over about half an hour ago because of my muffler (it is aftermarket). The road was slippery and my tire were spinning a bit and out of no where, a cop pulls me over. I came up with some bs story on how my tranny was slipping and how i wasn't intensionally spinning the tires, but anyways, he wrote me a ticket for my muffler on how it was too loud. He said i got get it replace, which i dont want to, or get some kinda silencer.

Now my question. Where can i get a universal silencer or anything to make it not as loud? I looked on ebay, cant find anything, and i cant wait to get it shipped. So does Autozone or some place sell something to quiet it up a little? I dont really feel like paying the ticket, i would rather just get it signed off.

Thanks.

autozone should have a glass pack that you can have clamped in that should tone it down a little.

Just pay the ticket. That's the price for having an aftermarket exhaust that's "too loud". Take me for example. On my Alero I have 3" piping from the turbo all the way back with a high flow cat and straight thru resonators and muffler. It's not exactly quiet but it'll help the engine produce the most amount of power and allow the turbo to spool very quickly. I've gotten a few exhaust tickets and I just pay them. Too much of a hastle to try and fix it and make it legal when you know you really don't want to, and it'll probably cost you just as much to fix it as it would to pay the ticket. Moral of the story: Pay the ticket, keep your exhaust, be careful driving around cops.

Thanks for the tips. I just replaced my performance muffler with the stock one, found a cop to sign off on it, and i will put it back on whenever i get motivated. It bolts on (which i didnt know), so no biggie. Thanks again!
