View Full Version : interior lighting
ok, my interior lights (gauge, shifter, hvac knobs, etc) will not come on at night anymore. every other thing works (speedometer, dummy lights). i check EVERY fuse in the car, all ok. i THINK that it might have something to do with the new door lock switch that i installed; when i turned the car on for the first time (at night) everything lit up like normal, then died out and wouldn't come back on. yes, i checked the dimmer  i dunno. any ideas?
also, could someone with power windows (door lock switch located up on the door sill) check the order of the color of wires? like from top to bottom? there should be four wires (gray, white, two black that are connected), and five prongs on the switch. i need to know where the wires go from top to bottom. if someone could do this i'd be eternally grateful :pimp:

Did you check the fuses under the hood? ;)

could be possible that your dimmer switch is bad. I'll be tearing apart my switch panel in the next couple days so if no one post it by then than i will post

yes, i checked the ones under the hood. i doubt it's the dimmer switch, as i can turn the ceiling lamp on

someone corect me if i'm wrong but I belive the dome lamp part of the dimmer is seperate from the actual dash dimming part.
that's odd. i mean when you push the dial all the way up, the dome light comes on. is it possible the thing with the lock caused it? i'm pretty sure that there's a circuit running for the locks themselves, then one that powers the light

OK here it goes.
from top
7 positions
firwst 2 empty
then both blacks in 3rd
then skip
grey in 5th
white in 6th
7th empty
thank you, you rule. i'll try that as soon as i wake up tomorrow
ok, problem. i only have five prongs. i'm assuming that's because i have a two door and you have a four door. anyone with a two door?
thanks again to aleromaster
