Dunno how well it'll look once installed but it should be a lot better that the white neon frame I have now which only lights up 1/4 of the way once it drops below freezing :mad2:. 2 Oznium super-white LED strips on a 2 cent plate frame, not a bad deal I figure. Once it warms up a bit I'll pop it on the wehicle. I think it turned out better than the LED frames that have the LEDs spaced out wayyyy too much. I'll redo it with slicone instead of wire ties to bind the strips to the frame if it looks good installed.

did you make the led strips yourself b/c if you did.........DAMNN looks a hell of a lot better then what me and cherry whipped together

No, the strips are pre-fabbed by Oznium. $10-$14 each depending on color. That's the same type of strip in my dome light.

Yep, cuz it's white, but it sure looks blue in the pics.

This looks nice. I don't know if anyone else has seen but I was driving down the highway and a champagne silver lexus passed and had ultra white on the license plate. I said to myself "I will have that" So I will prob add some ultra white...I can't afford the new lexus.

Loox Cool

Now, to get off topic. I bought some LEDs from Oznium. I see that you sanded off the heads of each bulb which is what Oznium recommended for more light. Is it actually better?

I've heard it just spreads it more evenly as opposed to being more angular.

Definitely, and these strips come with the LEDS already sanded to a flat tip. Once you use a flat tip you'll probably never want a round one again for glow effects.

if you see anyones cars with LED's in them (good examples would be mine, cherrington17 and Silentalero) for both interior and some exterior, all LED's have the tips sanded down. what this does is it spreads the light so that it doesnt look like little dots on what ever it is glowing on

Here are the pics you've been waiting for. You won't be disappointed (I think). This first one shows how this even lights up the ground behind the car:
http://www3.telus.net/cyberknight/Alero/Unsorted/PlateFar01.jpg

And this one is a bit closer with the camera steadied. The LEDs reflecting off the plate to the camera blur the image somewhat.
http://www3.telus.net/cyberknight/Alero/Unsorted/PlateFar02.jpg

And this last one is from an angle to reduce the reflection back to the camera to give you a better idea of how well it lights up the plate. I'm extremely pleased with how this turned out.

the only thing i'd be worried about is it might make the plate hard to read at night, when its REALLY dark.

i know the camera is reflecting too much light off the plate. getting good shots of led work is hard to do. so i am probably wrong about that first comment.

so in other words, i'm very disappointed. lol next time use 2x as many.

:thumb: keep up the good work c.knight!

^ Nope, no distortion at all, if anything it makes my plate too easy to read :ninja:

Thanks man!

That looks great! I thought it was reflecting a lot but since you said it doesn't look bad then i'll have to go try this b/c i can not find a neon pink frame so i guess i'll have to do better and make a led one! Now write up a How to!! Please!

cherrington17
11-13-2006, 01:32 AM
^his "how to" was buy strips off oznium. silicone them to the frame, run wires, connect to old bulb wires, stand back and admire glow. lol

kim, you can just wire yours in a series of 4. + to - then connect those together w/ small wires. bam, done.

I would just connect them to the old bulb that use to light up the plate... I think that's what they were talking about... seams how that bulb is useless now. lol I might give this a try... Great job though! I like it!:coolio:
