So, I picked up a transceiver and two remotes from "Sound-Extreme" here on the forum, who went out of his way to hewlp me out. I went to install the item (my car never originally came with the option) and lo and behold there is no plug to plug into the unit!! WOuld the wires possibly be wrapped up in the harness, or is it possible that they just ain't there to begin with? Is there any way I can get this thing to work short of getting an aftermarket setup?? I really would like the original setup. ANy help will be greatly appreciatted.

I'd name my next child after the person who gives me a solution, but I am now divorced, plus they're disconnected anyway!!! :scpimp:

There's only 3 wires to the unit. Power, Ground and Class 2 data-bus (I'm not sure if the '99 and '00 are different). You may need to have the dealer enable the keyless entry in the BCM.

I could easily run power and ground, but how do I get a "class 2 data-bus) wire back there? Do you think it might already be in the wire harness and I could just tap into it??

It's probably not there... It's pin #2 (purple) at your DLC under the dash.

I'll have to see if I have this wire. Is it used for anything else??

If not, I can just run it back to the keyless entry box. :scpimp:

That class-2 wire is all over the place in the car. It's the main communications data-bus wire. Unfortunately the RKE module is the only reason it would go to the back.

What year is your Alero? I hope to get my SI back up and running soon so I can double-check the wiring diagram.

It's a 1999 Alero 4 door with the V6.
