Basic topic.. easy to search.. and im going to try it.

My car almost ran out of gas earlier today.. and i herd from the place i bought my car "If it gets really low on gas, the fuel pump will suck up debris from the bottom of the tank and it will clog the fuel filter / injectors / whatever.." i dont know what the debris are doing in the bottom of the tank in the first place.. but who cares right? Now my car is very sluggish after 3500 RPM's and it doesnt want to go anywhere once it reaches those RPMs.. Hell i cant even get it to bounce off the rev limiter right now.. it stops around 3500 RPM and acts like its choking. I went and bought a fuel filter and i am going to be outside with some wrenches and i WILL figure out how to change this fuel filter myself.. WITHOUT paying 45 dollars for the damn dealer to do it. Time + Patience + a little bit of knowledge = money saved and self confidence! IF all goes well of course. my biggest worry is being under the car and the jack giving out and the car crushes my body.. but if that happens.. well.. come to my funeral.

Here goes nothing. lol

bad luck im afraid.. couldnt do it myself, lack of tools.. so i took it to the shop down the road.. paid 25 $ and they had it in in 5 minutes.. and the car still runs very sluggish.. cant seem to figure it out.. none of this started happening untill i almost ran out of gas.. any ideas on what could be the cause of this? any ideas on how to fix it?

COuld it be possible to get air in the fuel lines?

I know theres a release on the fuel rail of the 3100 and older, would assume so on the 3400 also.

Basicly you ran it on fumes/lean. Which would tell me it burned hot.

Pull out your front 3 plugs and have a lookie...

hmm.. i'll have to check that.. i hope i didnt roast anything.. and heres another thing, when i was nearly out of gas (i was at the gas station) I went to put my car into Park.. but i went in reverse instead (mistakes happen.. quite often with me) and it CLUNKED into gear.. i was like "Wtf?!" :wtf2: .. so i put it into drive.. "CLUNK".. locked into drive.. "ok.. what the hell." Tried reverse again.. "CLUNK".. "well im fucked".. so i put gas in it.. start her up, put it in drive.. and a nice smooth entry into drive.. im over here goin "what in the hell?!".. tried reverse.. nice and smooth, barely felt it. im over here clueless on what my car is doing. could being that low on gas make the tranny act funny? I put a bunch of fuel injector cleaner, even a bit of seafoam into it. it seems to be doing a little better but i lack ALOT of power in the higher RPM's..

One more thing.. could the Catalytic Converter be clogging up? I'm thinking that could be a possibility. I'll run it around with this fuel system cleaner and the new fuel filter for a while and see what happens, i'll keep ya'll updated. :smokin:

i doubt your cat is clogged unless you've been burning fluids.

Well theres a huge problem...

Using a ton of injector cleaner really isnt good. Nor is using a ton of seafoam.

Actually if you use a lot of seafoam you need to replace your plugs.

Not good on the 02 sensor either...

ok.. mabey a little to much exageration.. <== and i know i spelt that wrong lol. I used a little of both, i will definetly check my plugs though.
