Crappy Rotors

I was pricing some new rotors and was wondering if the following wasa good deal they are slotted and crossed drilled.

CENTRIC Brake Rotors. $190.00 for all 4 rotors front and rear rotors shipped.

not matt, but here goes.

1. truly drilled rotors, not cast with holes in em are not worth anything. they are prone to cracking and warping to the the structural integrity being compromissed by drilling holes in em.

2. your pads won't last as long with and kind of slotted/ drilled rotor due to the fact that they are constantly rubbing across the edges of the slots which causes more friction than normal. The difference may not be huge in some cases or it could mean new pads every 5K miles. just depends on the rotor/pad combo.

To go along with Eddie, slotted would be okay for the street. Yeah, they will eat up your pads a little quicker, but nothing to worry about. Cross drilled rotors should only be used on the race track, where heating of the rotors will be more consistent than on the road. Typical road driving involves some heating of the rotors and then some cooling, some heating, some cooling...you get my point. The uneven temperatures will cause the rotors to get hairline cracks at the holes. These will eventually turn into unserviceable rotors.

I've had crossed drilled rotors on my car since march of last year and have had no problems with them. I've got ceramic pads also.

Lots of rotors these days come cross-drilled from the factory. C6 corvette is an example... I guess if they're designed properly and used with the right pads they'll be fine

No one answered the original question if those cheaper rotors are safe/good or not?..I am wondering the same thing..so if anyone has them or knows about them..put some feedback here!

I think Fast Eddie did answer it.

To my knowledge... rotors that are drilled & slotted AFTER they are cast are more prone to breaking/cracking than ones that are manufactured with the holes & slots in them.

The ones you are looking at are probably drilled & slotted post-casting... meaning probably not any good. Best way to find out is to ask the seller.

No Don't buy them. Spend the money to get better known rotors (Power Slots). Never can be too careful with your brakes
