I need to remove the ignition switch in the dash of my '00 Alero. How do I do that?

simple 3 - 9/32 or 7mm bolts. 2 after u pull out the gauge cluster trim & one behind the radio on the left side.

Since one key opens the trunk and starts the ignition, I was thinking about taking the trunk lock out. Is there a trick to it? Believe it or not, both keys to the car are missing and it's way less expensive if I take the lock to the locksmith instead of having them come to the house.

the trunk lock is rivoted in. so you have to drill the rivots out then when remounting use bolts/nuts. not to mention that u have to take that stupid ass panel off. the ignition switch would be easier

You know you can go to the dealer with your VIN and proof of ownership and they will cut you a new key right there...

That's exactly what I did today. So that problem is solved. Now I've got to work in the bigger problem, replacing the water pump (the bearing is bad).

I hope it's not a Twin-Cam.
