I recently have picked up a nasty squeal from the drivers side front wheel area, and it only occurs when im turning, and occasionally while im driving anywhere between 40-60. I have a gut feeling its a bad wheel bearing, but wanted others experience with this to chime in
basically wanna know what the problem is exactly before i take it to the shop so they dont try to repair other shit. if it wasnt for the extended warranty and $100 deductible on repairs, id tear into it and find out myself.
Most likely a wheel hub bearing. pay the deductible.

^oh no doubt on paying the deductible, i just wanna go in knowing what the problem is so i dont have to pay fees for them to "find out the problem" or any of that BS they try to screw you on at dealerships and what not

Well my car was doing the same exact thing and I ended up needing new brakes and rotors. Around $175, my car started to do it the day I left to go to the track :(

Your brakes shouldn't squeal when your turning... only braking.
but i agree w/ the bearings. i just had mine done. it only took about 3 months of people asking what "that loud noise is" and me not having a good answer for it.. lol
this happened to me when i forgot to put the washer back on the top of the strut :knob:

yea...i know the sound of brakes that need replacing, cause you can hear the screaching of the clips on the brake pads on the rotor if the pads are bad, alright well hopefully ill get to the shop tomorrow to see what its gonna cost the warranty company :)

my car squeald when I would start driving and sometimes when I braked... took it in and had to replace brakes and rotors.. $400 job.. eek! but I'm pretty satisfied with the job... brakes still make a little noise, but only when rotors are hot... harder pads make noise is what I was told which is what I got...

wheel bearings on the alero go bad as often as the sun rises, i'm going to be taking mine into the dealer to get them replaced for the second time, and who knows if they were replaced or not before I had the car

ive held off on having the repairs done, and thank goodness, sounds like my right front strut is going out now, it makes a nasty squeal after running over a bump from the rebound...looks like im gonna be looking to sell the alero and get something else as a daily driver before the extended warranty runs out and my parents hand the title over to me (hence ill have to start paying the insurance, which blows that insurance companies see the alero as a sportscar)
