As most of you know, I tracked this car's progress for over a year now, almost to the point of stalking (only without the throat slashing).
Pleased to report that it is now flaunting a 9.01 and will soon be in the 8's.
For those of you who have not been tracking this with me, it is a 1997 Pontiac Gran Prix w/3800 twin turbo'd.
Builder is Stattama ( www.stattama.com (http://www.stattama.com) ) and lots of help from ZZPerformance ( www.zzperformance.com (http://www.zzperformance.com) )
The first victim I posted awhile back was a S/C intercooled Viper which got it's ass handed to it at a 9.73 run.
The lastest wasn't really any competition but happened to be at the staging line during test n tune, was a late model Gran Prix GTP (S/C 3800).
For those of you who were wondering why I track this car so hard, is that it's basically the motivator behind my own build, and am looking into a full TT build within the next coming year. I'll be about 400cc smaller engine than theirs, and a little heavier, so I'm planning on hitting 10's by then, until I figure out a way to get more traction.

I bet the guy was like "HOLY SHIT" while he was doing the burnout in the box. And if it wasn't bracket racing, i'm sure he cleaned house that day

damn thats sick...only thing about sleepers is they are becoming a thing of the past, with so many people these days thinking sleeper is the way to go, anymore it seems like its becoming more about the car you drive over how fast it is

yup, add nearly double the weight of a 3400, and not do anything to increase the HP, and it's pointless. never think for a second that displacement is everything. That's why there are 7-second ecotec drag cars out there.

who was it that was twin charged?
they had some aftermarket supercharger and some turbo on some 3800..........lol

price tag? heh. The insane part is, the engine is stock bottom end (crank/rods/pistons), and very few modifications to the transmission.

There are actually 3 fwd 3800s in the 9s. Two are from Intense, both with built engines and this one from ZZP/Stattama which used a stock bottom end and has the record. I believe they are all running wheelie bars.

How exactly can you turbo and super-cahrger the same motor at the same time? In theroy it is possible but. I would see too much restriction. A TT 3800 would be the best option for the GP

The owner of ZZP ran a twincharged setup into the 10s. It was a complete street car that weighed around 3500lbs. It was a ported gen3 m90 with a large turbonetics turbo.

I am seriously thinking about Twin-Charging the Alero. It would be fairly easy with the Ecotec.
Here's my inspiration for that one...

good luck twin anything on an Alero. it would take some money to do it. more power to ya if you do it
as for the video...IMO, the wheelie bar was merely there to improve traction, and perhaps reduce torque steer also.

Last year at the Nopi Nationals in Atlanta, I saw a little ugly ass hyundai (however the hell you spell it) that was turbo and supercharged. it was a small turbo and stuff. Have no idea how much boost he was pushin, but it looked pretty cool under the hood.

easiest way to twincharge an alero would be with a remote turbo, but as the redline and cobalt ss guys are finding out the tuning for a twincharged setup is a biatch........

I don't think Twin-Charging the Ecotec would be all that hard, It's like raiding parts out of the GM parts bin. Now tuning on the other hand, I'd probably just take it to the shop, pay like $500 and they dyno-tune it.

It could be done, especially with SCT Tuning.

Actually, I've done the research and already have the plan down for TT in the ol' Silver Sled, and all under the hood without major work. Just oing to take a little fab. But I want to see exactly how far I can get with that T70 first, and I wont know until I can get the tranny/traction done. It's gonna be a blast though :)
9 sec thats pretty fast...

a V8 Alero? ya I seen it. not impressed. anybody can get lots of power out of a V8 and most other V6's. but very few can get ass-kicking power out of a 60degree 3400. and I doubt if i'll ever see a twin turbo in an alero

it will happen sooner than you think.....my guess is within a year tops.....
