I possibly need to remove the plastic compartment that is attached to the headliner at the top of the front window.

Has anyone done this without breaking it?
Does it affect the headliner at all?

I tried searching but couldn't find anything, and it's not listed in the how-to for removing interior pieces.

well, while i was at the junkyard, i was curious as to how they came out, so i pulled, and it broke. it didn't affect the headliner at all though

I always thought that would be the perfect place for a radar detector, if you could rig it to hang down a little, and push back up quick. But it seems fairly well attached.

I have my other headliner in the garage, I will look how its attached. I would assume its the push through body bolts.

does someone have a picture of this overhead compartment? I don't think my car has it. Do you mean one of those things with like map lights and stuff? I have a 2003 GL1 btw...

^^ It's the little compartment between the windshield and the dome light. It should be directly in front of windshield. I use it to store my wallet and cds. No lights on it.

Ahh i see...I want to put one that looks nice in on my car with a compass and temperature reading along with compartments for my stuff, but if I remember correctly, the roof of the car is curved in that area? (Sorry to get off topic, but I didnt want to start a whole new thread for this)

Why don't you pull out the original, break it whatever and discard it, buy a replacement from a junk yard and paint that one, and put it in. Would that work?

Ok... so when people have removed the "pocket", which clips on it broke? A or B in the picture below? In my car, I was trying to run some wires up there, and one of A broke...

Aswell, who'se removed their headliner? Was it hard to do? I know in feeling around up top it seems like it's glued on to the roof of the car... or am I incorect in assuming that the headliner is the fabric on the roof?

So anyways, once I'm done prepping this one to my lining, I'll probably just yank off the old one, though if removing the headliner makes it easier, I might do that also.

I'd go to a wreckers and check it out on their cars, but none of them will allow you to take in your own tools anymore!... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Well, either that or I'll just smuggle in a couple of screwdrivers one day...
