Hey everyone! This is my first post :yahoo: Anyways, I am looking to put a computer in my car and i think i would like to mount the motherboard under the front passenger seat. I removed the seat and cut away some carpet and I found the Airbag SDM! My question is, can i move this module abut 6 inches to the left? If i move the SDM from the center of the seat area, off to the left, then i will have room to mount the motherboard and the SDM. However I'm a little nervous about moving such an important part of the airbag system. Anyone done this before or know if it can be moved? Thanks so much!

are you wanting to actually mounting the mobo to the floor? if so I would not do that. There should be info about carputers on aleromod somewhere all you need to do is search or I am sure others will help you with a link or 2.

well i dont want to mount it directly to the floor...i mean the floor is metal. I would mount it on plastic or something that would be then mounted to the floor. And i have searched for stuff about carputers, but I think this is the best solution for me.

you dont wanna permanently mount it to your car...id recommend just getting extension cables and mounting it in your trunk, and making a custom case that would be easy to remove, that way if you wanted to upgrade or just get rid of it altogether, you wouldnt have any permanent remnants of it ever being there

i had a carputer at one time and had like a 10-12 foot VGA/USB cable extension cord and that allowed me to easily put the mobo and components anywhere in the car, and was able to use the usb part of the cord to set everything up along side the mobo so that all i needed up front was a USB hub if i wanted to add anything like a memory stick or other devices, and then the touchscreen

^thats wat I would do. To much crap can get kicked under your seat that could get in the CPU fan. There is also water and moisture that can get at it, it just isnt a good idea.

setting it up in the trunk allows not only for much easier access, but looks cleaner on the install too, instead of wires coming from under the seat, u just have one or two coming up out of the dash somewhere to get to the touchscreen
