Dash Security Light

So this evening I was driving home from work and I noticed that the red security light had come on. I'm not sure when in my commute it had come on but it stayed on for the remainder of the trip, approximately 10 minutes. When I arrived home I turned the car off and restarted it and it didn't come on again. What caused this? Does that light throw a code that the dealer can diagnose?

Mine did that 2 times now.

It just happened on the way home from IN on Sunday about 250 miles from home. Stopped for gas and restarted the car and it went out.

I think it has something to do with the cynilder lock in the ing. Asked the dealer and they said that they never heard of it and not to worry about it unless the car stalls out or doesn't start.

That's good to know, esp. if it happens at 80 MPH :huh?:

mine does that every so often...ive got an aftermarket alarm and car-starter...might have something to do with it

same here alarm and remote starter... had the security light prob a while back and posted something asking ppl but the weird thing was it stopped doing it after i posted :P

Mine does that too once in awhile and then goes off. I don't have an alarm or anything

Yeah mine did it yesterday. I would shut off the car restart it and it would come back on after bout a min. Went to bring it to the dealer today and the light wouln't come back on.

Mine came on yesterday...shut car off..restarted & no light. must be a common problem with the Aleros.

I've noticed that mine comes on if I've been sitting listening to the Radio with the ignition in ON, and then start the car right from there. Shutting off the car and starting from OFF has never lit the light for me...

^^If your sitting with the ing on (but not started) the security light, oil light, and another one will be one until you start the car

Same here. Mine only does it if I have the radio on for a good while like if I am cleaning the car.
