OK I was going to wait until I hooked it up to show it off, but I got the kit today from FM Kustoms and I'm a little bit lost.
I see the compressor: 2 wires postive and ground I'm going to buy an inline fuse holder for a spade fuse, at least 16 gauge and put in either a 20 or 25 amp fuse. The air line from the compressor to the tank, the air line to the valve (with switch relay) and to the horn, but the kit came with a pressure switch, 2 prongs and a air fitting on the other end, where does this go?, also the switch relay, which prong is switch, power and ground?

what kind of pressure switch? it may not need a ground depending. post a pic up. it wont matter which wires(power or to compressor) you hook up to which prong. all the pressure switch does it connect those 2 wires.

Here's the switch. My buddy thinks that the top hole (covered) it an exhaust port, but he hasn't seen it yet

looks like it's a non ground switch. so jus T it and plug ur wires in
SweetNLow

an exhaust port?
think about this......... how is the pressure switch gonna sense the pressure without being located someone in the air storage system?
the extra fitting you have should be for the pressure switch.......... it should screw into the fitting.
basically things most likely should go........ tank........fitting....... fitting with pressure switch........ compressor line....... compressor
like joel said you T the pressure switch. one should be constant power with your on/off switch and the other wire is the compressor 12v wire

you can actually put the switch bout anywhere before the valve(s), jus as long as it has a direct feed from the tank.
for example my switch is the grey box on top of the tank(a different switch but still works on the same principles)
http://www.streetsourcemag.com/uploads/Ownerprofiles/soundxtreme/316200622935PM19401.jpg
while brents is inline with one of his ports going to his valves(at least thats how it was when he got the stuff)
SweetNLow
01-09-2007, 11:17 PM
ya mine is now between the tank and the compressor.
but like joel said........ as long as it has a direct feed from the tank your fine.
and whenever you do get it all hooked up........... the first time you turn it on and fill the tank......... it will take forever to fill....... atleast it will seem that way. but just let it build pressure and it will turn off when its supposed to. i alwasy worry that my tank is gonna explode or something

Heres my chime in! LOL
Compressor wiring w/ relay
Relay Pins:
85: Ground
86: From Pressure Switch Prong (Don't matter which one)
87: Power wire from battery (Must be 10 gauge min. or 8 ga, Fused w/40 amp fuse)
30: Compressor Red Pos. wire.
Black wire to compressor: Ground.
Pressure Switch Wiring:
Prong 1: Switched 12+ (from ignition or on a switch from a constant)
Prong 2: To Relay Pin #86
Valve Wiring:
If you want to splice in ur stock horn wiring and run it all the way back to the valve, you can do that. Or connect one side to ground and other wire to 12+ on a push button (or toggle switch) w/ Constant 12+.
------------------------
Plumbing:
Connect compressor to tank to a port, Connect Pressure switch to a port, then another port for to connect the valve (inlet), then valve outlet to the train horns. then any other remaining ports on the tank; you will need to plug up. You will prolly need to goto home depot or a hardware store to get fitting to adapt the sizes. If there isn't enough ports, you can get some "T" and do more plumbing. (heres an example of a "T" from my old tank setup)

01-15-2007, 10:54 PM
Ok, take and look directly head on with the three prongs, with your white tag (with serial number) is on the left. The left vertical prong is your positive 12volt source and you can use either of the others as grounds (I use the right vertical prong easier to keep straight). Either way one prong will be left open. However, if you are hooking up multiple valves to a switch box (such as air suspension) make sure to use all ground prongs the same (ex. if you use the right vertical prong as your ground source, use that prong on every valve).
Also if your using multiple valves make sure to use two designated colors for your connectors (ex. blue crimp on end = pos., yellow crimp on end = neg.) this way if you have an issue and you need to take things out or off they are easily recognizeable.

Do you think I can run the toggle switch into the same line as the pressure switch to the ign, and would I need a fuse for that too?
SweetNLow
01-22-2007, 07:11 PM
whats the toggle switch for?
Redog
01-22-2007, 09:56 PM
To sound the horn.
The push button switch I bought only has 2 prongs, one for on and one for ground. I got a brake light switch for it
SweetNLow
01-22-2007, 10:05 PM
im pretty sure you only need the 2 prongs........ one positive one negative..... cause hten when you push down on the button that completes the circuit and opens the valve.......
could be wrong im pretty dumb when it comes to wiring.......... thats why i keep joel around haha
sound_xtreme
01-22-2007, 10:09 PM
lol, that switch goes in the middle of the power line. meaing theyre both positive(what brent explained is correct cept the pos/neg part). one brings the positive in and one goes to the relay or whatever. the switch does indeed just complete the circuit
Redog
01-23-2007, 08:09 PM
OK I got it now.
I going to fuse on that one too
I will go valve, to switch, to ign or is hot better?
sound_xtreme
01-23-2007, 08:16 PM
you want hot, that way you dont have to have the car running to use it
SweetNLow
01-23-2007, 08:17 PM
use ignition unless you want the compressor to turn on even when you car is not running...... most likelyin killing your battery.
so i used ignition
SweetNLow
01-23-2007, 08:18 PM
errrrrrrrr...... i thought you were talkin bout hot for the compressor.
im retarded........ joel is correct

Well if people use their brain and don't become annoying and an ass about it. i'm not going to bitch.
However if people go crazy with the horns and we either get kicked out of the hotel or show or i hear complaints then i am going to be pissed.
not saying not to use them but be smart, respectful to others about it.

Bit of an update.
The kit is completely hooked up now. I hooked the switch and the pressure switch both to "hot" I used that bolt on the corner of the fuse box under the hood. I hooked the compressor up right to the battery.
Relay points:
87 power
86 pressure switch
85 ground
30 compressor
(I'm going to double check these connections tomorrow in the daylight)
Compressor is grounded to the bolt on top of the strut on the drivers side, smae point on the passager side for the switch and relay. I used a splicer to join them up.
I have a 30 amp in-line fuse for the compressor. and a 20 amp for the switch. When I pushed the switch button, I can hear the valve opening and closing, very exciting. I hook the compressor up to the battery and nothing, It don't turn on or start :(
The in-line fuse for that seems to be a bit cheap, It looked like it fell apart when I stripped the sheet. I'm going to buy a new one tomorrow and try it again. Does it seem like everything else it hooked up right?
Plus a good safety tip. When hooking up anythng to that bolt, undo the battery. I tapped the suspension mount with the socket wrecnh and it threw one hell of a spark, I didn't get shocked but I did jump back about 10 feet!
sound_xtreme
02-10-2007, 08:05 PM
uhhh, it sparked when you did the suspension mount bolt??????? uhhhhh...i could see when you put the wire on the bolt it sparked, but touching the socket wrench to is shouldnt do anything. AND, if you DID get spark, that means the compressor is getting power.
Redog
02-10-2007, 08:53 PM
No, I was hooking up the switch when I threw the spark. I was tighting up the bolt and the end of the socket wrench hit the suspension mount hump under the hood
When I hooked up the main power wire, nothing happened. I think I have to replace that fuse line. Like I said, some copper fell out when I stripped the sheet off the wire
