Does any company make a Quiet exhaust lol. Im tired of the drone. I have an hour long trip to college and back almost everyday and its annoying.
Is there anyway to get a quieter exhaust with little to no drone. I dont want to go back to stock if i dont have to.

No i have a magnaflow cat...a tanabe medallion tip...and idk what kind of resonator. But the drone is killer. Its not so bad driving around town but not listening to it for a constant hour.
How bad is the 40 series flow...(interstate constant sound)

If you want it to be quieter, get a turbo style muffler... (Dynomax Super-Turbo, etc..)
SweetNLow
01-24-2007, 02:14 AM
get a flowmaster 40 or dual 40s.......... i know for sure that dual 40's dont drone on the highway..... the only time they drone is at like 25mph but its not annoying to me at that speed.
jon whats a single 40 like on the freeway?

Probably will get the 40 series. How much did it run you for the whole setup. And i'll prolly add another resonator just because.

i have an 80 series with headers and a highflow cat that doesnt have a drone problem.

headers for the 3.4 are a little pricey right now though. Maybe later.

Go with a Turbo Muffler their cheap and not so loud but still when you get on the gas it will be plenty loud

80 drones at speed......... i dont care what anyone says.
dual 40s dont drone and sound deeper at idle then single 80
single 40 abit quiter than dual 40's at idle.. dont know about at speed

below the super 40's i have a delta 40. Its a little quieter, more expensive. I kinda wish i would have done super 40 rather than delta. Flowmaster is the way to go though. My roomate has dual borlas on his 4.3 v6 silverado. It drones like a bitch. Sounds like ass when he gets on it.
SweetNLow
01-24-2007, 04:50 PM
ya delta flow is designed for abit quiter performance

SweetNLow, you have dual "Super 40's" ? What do those sound like.. I'm looking for more of a muscle car sound rather than that "ricey" kind of noise.. not like a big block V8 with an RV cam kind of sound, but you know.. a smooth mellow rumble vs that swarm of bee's sound

technically i dont think i even have flowmasters but ill have to double check.
i beleive i have knock offs of the 40 series but they are identical.
get these though if you want the 40....... and get 2....... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=FLO%2D42543&N=700+4294922710+115&autoview=sku (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=FLO%2D42543&N=700+4294922710+115&autoview=sku)

All 4.3s sound bad for the most part. Just like 3800s.

a v6 silverado is heinous to start with. wtf!

Yeah we give him shit for it all the time. He bought the truck when he was 15 when he didnt have alot of cash to work with. Its a clean truck, paint is in great shape and he has been talking about a 350 swap into it at some point but hes all talk. It would be pointless to spend that kind of time and money on a 95 anyways.

the 350 is amazing. ahhh it got me thru my street racing stage of life quite nicely.

my dad used to have a Vortech 4.3 in a 97 GMC and that thing moved pretty good, you could easily chirp the tires going from first to second

First of all, it's Vortec (no "h" there). And the 4.3 still only has like 190 HP and gets horrible fuel economy. You can make anything chirp on the 1->2 shift if you have enough line pressure and hard enough tires. (my old Volvo could do it)

Ok guys....so Ive been lookin around for a 40 series flowmaster muffler. Well one of my friends is taking one off his truck next week its a single in dual out. He's asking 40$ for it.Deal or no deal?
ALso can i just run new 2.5 pipe with a resonator and no cat from the downpipe or will it run/sound bad.
alerored04
01-26-2007, 11:35 PM
leave the cat get rid of the resonator. If you wonder why i say leave the cat see the thread titled "The Truth About Going Catless."

Whats the point....Seems like that would cause more drone...and would be a tight fit.

tight fit, but less drone

I ended up going with the turbo muffler.
Im gettin a 2.25 pipe, stock cat, (possible resonator), and turbo muffler with some roundish oval tips.
So now im wondering how quite it will be

Ok guys I just got back from the shop.
I ended up going with 2.25 pipe.
Glasspack res.
Turbo muffler
and a rounded rectangle tip. (I wanted the rolled edge but they were out, so i may go back.)
ANyways ITS SOUNDS AWESOME.
I'll get a sound clip up asap.
