too blue and you're asking for trouble...you dont realize how blue they are until you run your high beams for a few minutes and then switch back

H.I.D. Lights are illegal here in manitoba, the brightest u can have is like those xenon lights on and thats pushing it, u can put thoses strobes in on front and back but can't use while driving

aftermarket HIDs are illegal everywhere...but since when has been illegal stopped anybhody from doing anything?

too blue and you're asking for trouble...you dont realize how blue they are until you run your high beams for a few minutes and then switch back
You will also quickly realize what too blue is if you have to drive at night all the time. That's why when i had one burn out i went to 4300.

Pimpalero03
02-16-2007, 04:20 PM
hard to say. a buddy got oznium and a bulb burned out the first day and he had to wait over a week for another one. could have just been a bad bulb though.. i konw 3 people with mccullach and not one of htem has had an issue yet

8k is what i can on the acura, and its a happy middle between blue and purple. Light output is ok for his but then again im not in the country to actually use hids for their visibility. And if i am itll light up the road more than halogen anyday.

just wondering where you guys mounted your ballast at?
doubleN0alero
02-26-2007, 10:11 PM
There is a little ledge down there below the lights....down in the bumper area...I bought the ballast covers and mounted those down there...they are plastic and protect the ballast from the weather...they're a good idea and pretty cheap...might be something to look into.

My ballasts are mounted to the header panel behind the signal light area.

I got ballast covers too... I think I got them on ebay if I remember.
Cliff8928

I know my ballasts are weather-resistant, so there's no need for covers. They haven't been covered for over 4 years.

Actually, I had some of those cheap immitations in the Alero since like July.
They were MUCH nicer than the yellow lights it came with, (in fact, when I broke one I replaced it with stock and the difference was very noticeable) and for $15 (give or take) I'd really recommend them if you don't want to fork out $200 for real HIDs.
The only problem is I've heard some other people don't have quite the luck I had, what with some melted harneses and such.

depending on how much you drive you WILL melt the harness sooner or later

I drove it a lot, but my longest trips were always only about and hour, tops, so I guess that might've had something to do with it.
Or maybe it was just a disaster waiting to happen within a week or something, heh.
