I have been having strange problems with my electrical system lately. The symptoms include: flickering lights (headlights and gauges), volume changes in system, anti-lock warning light comes on, voltmeter jumps back and forth between 14 and 16, and even hard shifts sometimes (2.4 auto).

These problems occur not matter what accessories are on or off. It happens about 60% of the time. The battery and alternator are both fairly new (1.5 yrs maybe), and I never have a problem starting my car.

What could be causing these problems? My guess is some bad wiring between the battery and alternator or somewhere else. Any other ideas?

Thanks for any help!

is the battery terminals clean? what kind of battery do u have? a new battery can still crap out too and so can a new alternator. Go get those tested. that would be my start if i had that problem.

check some of the grounds. battery, lights, engine, etc. a ground that may have come loose will drive you fucking crazy.

It the connection tight? mine was doing that. I'd hit the brakes and the headlights would go out
