jensen's suck and i don't care for sony. alpine is my choice. i got 2 JL Audio 10w0's in a box with a 300watt Zapco amp for $250 used from my buddy. they didn't pound as good as they should of so i bought an alpine 300watt mono block for $60 from a salvage yard. they pound and sound cleaner then most subs i've heard. i traded my Zapco for a car. if the jensen's work for you that all that matters.

If you have the money and the power, JL's are the best subs
If it has the bling appeal and it ain't a wheel then its the seller that got the steal.

I agree with you. JL's really aren't that expensive either if you have a friend that works in a stereo shop. They usually have a lot of margin on them.
My personal favorite is Phoenix Gold. Not quite as popular as JL but they have clean bass and can hit pretty hard. Still have an extra Phoenix Gold Octane R12 sitting in a box in my room... Left over from my cavy when I downgraded from two 12's to one 12

In high school I had a buddy that had 4 JL 10's running off a phoenix gold 1000w amp in the trunk of his Dodge Shadow. It could actually make you sick to your stomach from the vibrations. Not good after chorizo burritos.

Ouch, Im sorry for ya.
The reason these probably sounded better is probably due to the box.
See, in a store you have a big air volume. Subs in bandpass will just plain sound louder... Since its like a box inside a box, being one side sealed- other ported.
Now look at a sealed box... One box only... Lots and lots of air in the store to compress compared to the bandpass...
For $220 you could of bought 2 TC Sounds TC1000 subs that will butt rape them Jensen's in every way conceivable. Hell, just one TC1000 would ;)
Building a box isnt hard if you just research. Otherwise you can spend 200 really easy having one built for you.

JL is good but not cheap. I am a kicker guy my self. I have used the L7, And I am now using the SOLO X. Never had any prob. with, And sound great. It all will depend on box, amp, and setup how GOOD or BAD it will sound. No matter what equipment you have.
