I ordered rims for the car and now am so uneasy about my decision I need to know exactly what I got....Guys help me out whats the difference between PLATED chrome and POLISHED? Is polished going to be just as shinny with that mirror reflection or is it going to be dull like what I am afraid of. The dealersays they will be shinny but someone in the same shop showed me the other rim and it was dull not even close to mirror image and I dont want dull on my car if im going to get dull I mightest well leave the fractory rims on there HELP ME PLEASE

plated will hold it's shine, and is easier to clean, while polish will dull out over time, and is more susceptible to pits, nicks, and otherwise pissing you off because you spent the money on it and it looks like crap after awhile. On the other hand, chrome are generally heavier than polished.

Chrome is mirror-like, and polished is just really shiney. Brushed cast or "machine finish" is the dull finish you're thinking of

When you get them, wax the rims before you put them on the car. The dirt won't stick as much ;)

Close, use a sealant not a wax. Wax can't handle the heat generated by the wheels and will break down.

Yea my chrome rims are a bitch to clean, expecially putting chrome polish on it every month

^ Then apply a wheel sealant and you will see how much easier it is to clean your wheels

I use meguilars chrome wheel cleaner, just spray on spray off pretty nice actually, i want to get that mothers polish ball but its like 50 bucks : /

There is a large and a small power ball, you can probalby find the small for around $25 and the large shouldn't cost more than 30-35.
The trick is applying a sealant to the wheels when you are done. That will keep the brake dust from sticking to them, letting you clean them up with a regular wash.

i have one of the small power balls and i wouldnt recommend it unless your rims are somewhat flat i.e. no lip and a high revving power drill is a necessity.
