Hey all...

So, first thing I'm doin while on leave? Guttin the inside and throwing something new down. This morning she's in the garage, comepletely stripped - minus the dash - and I think that even that may be leaving for a while...

I'll do my best to have pics up at the end of the day to show the progress...

Edge.

Just finished for the day... wow!

I finished the initial red-leather for the top part of the console... a bit of fiberglassing too... the bottom half has been cut, and tomorrow the 'vents' will be fiberglassed and black leather thrown onto that...

The 'flat decking' where the back seats were measured up and I'll be welding the initial grate hopefully tomorrow.

I measured out the 'kick panels' for the doors as well. Tomorrow the two pieces of stainless steel will be cut, then sent for sandblasting. "Racing Reaper" will be left polished on the driver side. Problem is the cut for the reflector may pose some problems. We'll see.

The new shifter shaft is being sent away for chroming as well... should have that in a couple days. As well, the shift knob will be sent for sand blasting as well once the "kick panels" are ready.

Oh, and I had a couple beers too..

Nice interior trim pieces, that's how I had mine painted, and had some red cloth for the cloht trim pieces in the doors.
I like it!
Should end up pretty tight, from the looks of it!

Thanks for the support!

Well, slight delay… as oppose to using a grated sheet of steel, 4 pieces total, I’m just going to get a single piece of stainless steel cut and weld that in… though, it’s going to take about a week… which is alright. In that time I can finish the door panels and get to work on finishing the floor consol and sneak in a trip to Calgary on the weekend. But, other than that, a lot was still finished today.

Time for a beer.

Eh_nigma
02-28-2007, 05:25 PM
Picked up the new piece of stainless steel to use as the foundation for the floor. As well, ordered the new speaker covers for the doors today, and began to cut the holes for the 6 1/2"ers... what else... ...todays a recovery day, someone's birthday party was just a bit to wild, and walking in at 8 am... whooooo...

Worked a bit on the top part of the floor console. This is just the back half... but you see some of the fiberglassing and the new shape around the cup holder (the lips removed).

Since that picture, the red's trimmed and black will be put over top of the rest.

nice job, but is that fiberglass reinforced where the ebrake is. like 2-3 layers? not just 1 single layer? If not.. i hope no one or anything ever touches that spot. it will be fragile to the touch. Or the heat can warp the shape of it.

I'm not a fan of red but the workmanship looks great. Good Job

Eh_nigma

Thank on the compliments... as for the fiberglass, where the lip was cut there are 2 layers, that are overlapped with 3 layers where the e-break was.

have any plans for your steering wheel? if so then what

Eh_nigma
03-02-2007, 01:47 AM
The steering wheel? It's already done... the steering wheel itself has something I designed and built - for reasons that are motivated by the loss of a close friend - it's removable.

The way it works, a 14mm nut on the face side of the steering wheel, attached through the wheel to the steering wheel column, needs a 1/4 turn to "crack it" then 1 1/2 turns to free the wheel, and it comes right off.

The wheel itself is a simple wheel... I'll get some pics of it tomorrow and throw them up here before I head out. And Sat, check PM's...

looks like you're having fun man. glad to see someone doing something different with their interior. this is pretty much the only topic i'm paying attention to on here right now. it's actually a post about an alero, and not stupid crap someone found in the news. thank you for the breathe of fresh air.

Eh_nigma
03-02-2007, 08:07 PM
Hey, no worries - though there's a lot more to this forum than what I'm doing...

I'll say this though, this weekend is going to be a much needed relaxer... Banff and Calgary.

I managed to get a few things done before I left though - the kick panels will be ready for me on Wednseday. With that in mind, the two new speaker grills for the doors will be in on Friday - thus, the doors will be completely done on Friday afternoon.

As for the floor console, that one will be done mid week. More pics definately to follow when I get back at it on Monday.

When it comes to flatdecking the back part, the floor (the sheet of steel), is mounted, "painted" and insulated. Carpet will be put in soon, but come about Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll begin building up the back with the fiber board and panels. And with that, I'm on my way out the door.

Thanks to everyone for the support, and enjoy the weekend.

Cut, shaped, sanded, and threw on the fiberglass onto the center piece of the floor console... mapped out where the leather/vinyl will go on the main piece, and well... lets just say, long night, but I'll definately have some pics when I'm back. Din-din time.

SO, a few more update pictures...

First thing I had to do was cruise down to the local wreckers and pick up a few parts, and yes... ummm... that would be the joke behind the first picture.

Second picture... Managed to get the red half of the material down on the floor console. Overtop of this, there's going to be the black material done in the same manner as was shown before on the top half.

Third Picture... the center console section where the stick's going through, well, it's redone a bit - I just can't leave anything the way it was - and here I'm laying down the fiberglass.

Forth? Forget the strokes from the cigarettes as the pack advertises... this is what happens when you distract yourself by lighting a smoke while cutting through parts... mmm, yeah...

The last picture is the initial cut done on the fiberglassing. You can see the new opening that was cut, and the boot will be added in.

Tomorrow, once it hardens, I'll do a bit of polish-sanding, paint it, and glew 'er down. Get the boot done up, and hopefully sew up and throw on the black forward half of the floor console.

What's tomorrow, Friday? Yeah, I'll be going up to Calgary again on Saturday, so, tomorrow's a "git'er done" day. Well, enjoy.

Hey, thanks everyone for the compliments. So, as I sit here smoking, here's a bit of an update...

Picked up a couple pieces - again - and have measured out the size of the aluminium panels that will be rivetted as kick panels on the door panel, and the piece below it.

The pieces for the floor console are measured and cut, as well as the material for the "shifter bag" that will be sewn up as soon as I finish this smoke...

The kick panels and door panels will be finished up as soon as I get the speaker grills from e-bay... so sometime next week. I'm trying to cram in as much as possible, only because of a fishing trip next week. In short, I've got 8 working days left to finish 14 or so worth of work. Long night tonight? Ummm, yes. But, again, once I'm done tonight, I'll throw down some pictures here.

slowly these parts are beginning to stop being taken off or apart, and are on the brink of being put together... all I have to say, it's about bloody time.

Dude, seriously, you are my hero. Right now, at this very moment, my alero's dash is sitting in the floor of my living room on top of a bunch of trash bags, and I have been scraping the damn glued-down foam off of it for hours.

What did you do to re-cover your dash? I couldn't find anything online but that disgusting carpet covering garbage. Like 99% of all other Alero owners, my dash covering came loose and started rippling and separating from the dash frame. My plan originally was to just fiberglass the entire dash after ripping off all the fake leather and padding, then sand it down and prime/paint/clear-coat it.

Seriously, your motif is *identical* to what I had in mind, except I am doing blue accents and trim. :) Thanks for the pictures, too. It just makes me that much more confident that the finished product will kick some serious ass! I'll upload some pics and start my own interior re-do thread this weekend sometime.

Oi... WAY too many fumes tonight... everything became, and still is, a bit funny. Too funny.

I'll have pics up in about 30-40 minutes of the floor console, minus the black trim. And hey! I somehow managed to short shift the bloody thing... I'm happy.

Now, smoke, drink, upload, drink... back in a bit...

Brad, thanks, and I'll post something for you when I've got a chance to go into a bit more detail.

Sometime soon, I'm going to start redoing my interior so it doesn't look like crap anymore. lol I will probably need a lot of help from you on how you did some stuff... like taking the dash completely off and stuff... Did you do anything too your doors, like rip the fabric off and put new fabric on???

Eh_nigma
03-10-2007, 02:18 AM
Okay, as previously mentioned, update pics...

1. The top part of the floor console, sanded, painted. I actually was surprised how well it turned out.
2. And this is how I started to make the shift bag. Just a cloth, put to shape, couple staples, and trimming. Take it off, cut out the pattern, and then it's a matter of putting stitches to the material.
3. The finished console. The only thing that I need to finish, cut outs for the 'vents' hooking up the lights, and a piece of black trim between the top half and the bottom half.
4. This is it sitting in the car. The dash still needs to be done though.
5. Measuring out kickpanels for the two sides. They will also be going onto the door... can't see the outline though. They'll be sandblasted pieces of aluminium pop riveted in.
6. The board. Progress being made? Yes. Near the end? Nope.

Enjoy.

A lot of time? 12-14 hours a day. That's either in the garage, or running around trying to get parts from other Alero's... total now, 3 other VIN's have contributed to this project...

Anywho, here's some more pictures... no need to yell at a guy...

1. Picked up the parcel deck this morning. This is what I began with. Junk.
2. And this is how I began to get the carpet removed... holy hell that took a while... but, sure enough, after a couple hours, it was gone.
3. Speaker covers for the 6x9's. Just need a mesh cover for the "vent" and trim between the black and red. It's sitting in its place on the P.D., after it's hair cut...
4. The P.D. awaiting fiberglassing.

That's where I'm at right now. Just going to finish supper, then get right back to it.

I'd have pictures of the Sub-Frame, however the car is outside (in the snow) now, as I rolled it out to come and go... a pretty cheesy excuse? Yep. But I'm lacking in motivation to go and take a pic. Anywho, there you go. More pictures of the P.D. Once I'm back tonight...

Thanks...

Two more pics. The one completed and the other still needing the mesh put in, but the two 6x9 speaker grills... (they're completed now, just not when the picture was taken, though, they still need trim.

Second pic, the Parcel deck, with the final single piece of fg on it. Gah, let me just say, throwing on a sheet like that, with only one set of hands... though interesting... had a couple hairy moments to it... who knows, maybe next time I'll fiberglass my shoes... or jeans... or what the hell, I'll just wrap it around my face and send it off somewhere on e-bay... my rant is finished.

Tomorrow morning I'll trim it, sand it lightly, throw on a few coats of black, and this piece in particular will only be a 1/2 gloss black. Mount the grills, and throw that picture up. Then, it's off for a fishing trip until Sunday. Unfortnatly the 'ho doesn't float - yet - so she'll have to stay behind.

Some disappointing news... went into the garage... because of the cold temp, the fiberglass hasn't set enough yet to mess around with cutting and sanding, let alone painting. So, my dilema... in 30 minutes I'm heading out to Vancouver for a fishing trip... have to leave it.

So, this is probably the weekest update I've made... and Candace#1's going to be all over that.

As for the how-to, Rob, yeah, I'll do that when I get back. The only thing I was thinking, this is my first time Fiberglassing, though it's going well, there are a few guys on this site that are more experienced with it (Silent I believe would be good one to go to). BUT, I will do what I can when I get back, and ensure that if I missed something, someone will add to it.

does anyone know, is there going to be an issue with that fiberglass sticking to the plastic? i always thought you had to prepare the mating surface by drilling holes in it for the resin to bond through. hmmm....

Hey-Hey! Settle down now! I'll be back soon.

As for the isse of the fg sticking to the plastic... wont be an issue, Those sections will be cut free. As for the drilling... that fiberboard it was put on, just before I throw a quick rub of 100 grit sand paper. I found this works well enough to get the bonding agent to get in there... sticks well... especially around the edges.

Candace, I'm beginning to get used to disappointing you.

Anywho, here in Calgary, just making a pit stop to check out a couple seats I'm looking at. :D Very, very nice seats I must say. Will I get them? All sources point to yes, but just not right now.

Upon return I'll be sure to get pictures of the sub-frame in the back when it was being made and the finished frame. First thing I want to finish is insulating and carpeting the floor. Throw in a foot peg, for the left foot. Get the kick panels on the 'running boards' done, throw the center console complete in... and if I have time, switch the bulbs around in the center console to blue. 2 days, should be enough time. OH! Right... and make fun of Candace.

Anywho, pit stop is over, and now it's time to head to Vancouver for some fishing...

How did you give this piece that carbon fiber look? Did you use a special kind of resin with a woven mat ?

Eh_nigma

That carbon fiber look was just cooincidence. It's just fiberglass over the original piece. I painted it a 1/2 gloss black after it was finished though. That's basically the look most of the pieces inside the car are going to have.

although, this trip is quite a bit of fun this far... just can't seem to get away from the forum.

The roads from Vancouver to Lethbridge ought to be something else, I'm sure. However, we begin the long haul back tonight, and hopefully I'm in Lethbridge by about, oohhhh... 8AM... so what does that mean?

It means that tomorrow I'll be cleaning out the rest of the existing crap from the floor. Insulating it from sound. Throwing down the initial carpet. Monday, by Monday night, I hope to have the new floor shape figured out, and pieces cut. Then, come Tuesday, install the new carpet, which will allow me to then throw in the floor console, shifter, the whole nine yards of what I was working on.

Although the subframe is finished, which I'm quite happy about, I'll have to do the remainder of the panels when I'm in Shilo, so weekend projects. BUT, all in all, with all the minor details, should be carpeted and with a finished floor on or around Tuesday night.

One of those small detailes I was thinking about, was having a 3-prong plug installed somewhere around the floor area, to finally avoid all the converters and adaptors that have to deal with a cigarette lighter... basically the AC adaptor for my laptop...

Anyway, hopefully there's no hickups on the drive back... and I can get something accomplished. I'll be sure to throw on some updates ASAP... picture updates that is.

Just taking a break for dinner...

The LED's on the climat control have been changed to blue. Done. That's now mounted back in, and the consoles put back overtop of it.

The back panel's sanded, and the paint is trying.

I had to remove the sub-assembly... fuckass... because as I was measuring up the 6x9's, of course, they don't fit. So, tomorrow I'll dremmel in the new size needed. In order to do this, cutting from underneath, I had to remove the two spring-bars from the trunk - holy hell that thing is heavy. None the less... tomorrow morning I'll pick up the 6x9's where I left off.

Lets see... what else.. what else.. OH! Right, how could I forget... the cut, shaped kick panels I sent for sandblasting were waiting for me when I got back from the trip... one problem... not the same panels. They're the same, rough cut panels I started with in the first place... so, this really pissed me off... back to square one.

The floor is also Dyna-matted under where the drivers seat is. Progress is being made... but the 6x9's are the typicall one step forward, two steps back. Hopefully after dinner and a few drinks, I can manage to get more done. Pics will be up with another update, as always, after I'm done tonight.

Okay, picture updates... most of these pics will just reiterate what I've been talking about before...

The first picture is of the kick-panels I was waiting for, for... oh, over a week and a half. Like I said, I had sent these in matching the cut - paper outlines - and shape needed. All that needed to be done was to get clearcoat overtop of these, and drill in the rivet holes... this is what I got back. A rough cut, unshaped.

I'm thinking they screwed them up some how, not to mention mine were 22 guage, and measuring these, they're 20 guage. I wont know until I call them tomorrow... ought to be a good phone call.

The second picture, shows the new blue LED's in the climate control. Nothing too special. I'm just glad I got it finished. Crappy picture, but, shmee...

Third picture, The white outline is a rough guide as to what I need to cut to get those new 6x9's to fit. I'll be doing that with a dremmel tomorrow.

Forth picture - the Parcel Deck. The covers are only placed overtop to give the look, as well as the parcel deck will be getting a dull-clear coat. Last thing I need is for this piece to reflect sunlight or headlights into the rear view mirror.

Final picture is a quick shot of the subframe that the boards will be mounted to. It's hard to picture the shape inside the car, but I'll throw that picture up once I've remounted it.

Anyway, that's it for tonight. More work tomorrow.

A long, long day... finished a bit of work today...

1st Pic - Pounding out the metal... this really, REALLY pissed me off. They replaced the aluminium I had made because they 'had an accident' they couldn't justify. So they cut new pieces and such... that's not the point... in shaping, there's marks left from the rubber hammer, then there's the sanding out of any scrapes or dents, smoothing it out, and drilling in the rivet holes. All of which should be done prior to sand blasting. Well, I said screw it, cut, shaped, sanded down, and polished it up... (from a video clip, so yeah, qualities not all that great).

2nd Pic is the side by side comparison. Self explanitory.

3rd Pic, the holes... cut for the 6x9, and finally,

4th Pic, 6x9's installed. Just need to throw in some "silicone" and that's that. That "bubblegum" shit is a bitch to work with. Much needed, but a bitch none the less. Anywho, yeah... tomorrow I'll remount the sub-frame inside, snap a pic so you can get the idea of the new shape in the back. Then the Parcel Deck will be covered, and blah-blah-blah... it's 3:30 in the morning, I'm tired...

What else tomorrow?... right... finish up the other three panels - nothing like getting the brushed/polished aluminium look by hand. Don't get me wrong, I love metal working, the old way - no English Wheel...

Dynamat the floor, take pics for a how-to on the LED's in the climate control, install the bloody floor console... what else... what else... I think that's about it, unless I'm forgetting something...

Eh_nigma
03-20-2007, 01:35 PM
Alright, I do apologize for the delays in getting that "How-To" up...

Just taking a quick break for lunch. 2 Panels are finished, 2 more kick panels to go (for both the doors).

The How-To pictures are taken, and I'll be sure to throw up a good write-up later on tonight, so you should all have that ready in the AM for those who want to see it.

I was thinking of throwin in a How-To on metal working in the manner I'm doing it, but, well, that idea went out the window.

None the less... after lunch I'll be mounting in the Sub-Assembly, then installing the Parcel Deck. After that's happily finished, I'll be laying in the dynomat in layers, then installing the center/floor console, and this should give a rough idea as to what the layout of the car will be.

My arms are killing me from pounding these panels, so I might do the last two tomorrow.

None the less, I need to find a way to be able to post up new pics - as I'm beginning to run out of the alotted space FAST. Needless to say, pics up tonight, as always.

And, before I drift off back to the garage, thanks to everyone for the compliments, advice, critiques, and support. It's been helping a lot.

Okay, quick update...

First pic is the dynomatted floor sections - they're thrown where they are due to the exhaust. This dynomat was specifically intended to remove outside/exhaust noise.

Second pic is the sub-frame installed, and primed. Gives an idea of the profile that will be used.

Third pic - short shifter... not to clear in this pic, I'll get one later on that sums things up in the day time.

Forth pic is the lights done, longer exposure, to give the effect of the center/floor console. Note the cupholder...

Enjoy.

Went out and got price quotes for the Rims today. I have to wait until about next week sometime to get everything (as its the same place I'm getting the audio products/deck from, a bit of a discount follows).

It's either the RS7's http://www.enkei.com/jpeg%20files/Wheels/RS7Anthracite.jpg or the OR52's http://www.enkei.com/jpeg%20files/Wheels/OR52Anthracite.jpg

Not quite sure as of yet, and price isn't the issue. The body style will be a 1-1.5 inch drop, Kato Kombat kit (slightly modified), Extreme Dimensions Sniper Wing as a spoiler, Extreme Dimensions Type IV Hood Scoop over top my air intake, and two scoops where the quarter windows are. The entire car will be a gloss black. The only thing other than black will be the grill mesh, rotors, parts of the rim, and the lip of the exhaust coming out the same place as I have the one on there now, just through the side skirt.

lmao, thats weird, umm, well go to wheelmax, put in the info about your car, then search the rims, these rims are on the first page, black with chrome lip, they are called "TORK CHAMPION BLACK (GLOSS FINISH)", 3rd row down, 3rd rim in.

Those are nice rims... but just too much of the chromed bolts around each spoke, and that I'm not a fan of. They are alright rims though - to each their own.

FTW!

I think I've seen those on an Alero once.. didn't like them at all.
The face is too flat, it reflects like a mirror so you don't get the nice shiny chrome look, and half the time the rims look gunmetal, because they're reflecting the pavement. As opposed to more angles or curves which reflects lots of things and give a better effect.

At least in my opinion, which is far from perfect, lol.

agreed. I'm looking for something just gloss black to match the car and body style that will be going on. I was planning on putting the "k & cross" tattoo I have on my hand as an insent on those hub caps that come with them as well.

well, the car's definately going to be unique, as it seems has been your plan from day one. i've never seen the raw fiberglass styling on interior pieces. it will be different.
as for rims, of course i'm partial to my 5Zigen OSV knock-offs, but it sounds like you're getting a nice little discount on yours. you should do a little photoshop of what you want the exterior to look like. it sounds unique, especially the part about the scoops on the rear windows.
did you ever end up finishing that how-to? i can't seem to find anything.

May I hazard a guess and say you are with the PPCLI and not 1RCHA?? I ask this, because I am an FCS tech with 1RCHA. I'd like to ask you a favour while you got your rear deck apart. Could you take some detailed pics of how the remote door lock module is wored in? I have the module, but it wasn't an option on my 99. I got the module and keyfobs off of someone on this forum, and would like to be able to hook them up so I can have keyless entry. Also, since you mentioned a few donor cars have helped you out, any chance you have the dash piece with the foglight switch in it?

And last but certainly not least, that is some damn fine work you got going there. I am definetly going to be looking for it on base when it is done. Me, I just a plain old regular 99 Alero with the 6cyl in it that I bought when I got back from Afghanistan in Aug 06. I love the car. See ya ln the streets dude.

i've never seen the raw fiberglass styling on interior pieces. it will be different.

I was bummin' around with the stuff, and really liked the look. That'll be the foundation of the panels. Once these black panels are all done, and mounted. Then I can map out, shape, and make a center cover piece - also fiberglassed, but smooooth, and polished. Likely Gunmetal. This piece will also incorporate the cover for that 10 Farad Cap. as well. So, the back wont be completely black-raw-fiberglass.

As well, the outer edges of the sub-assembly (from the edge to the interior body of the car), it will be the same smoothed polished gunmetal fiberglass. This pattern of raw black and polished gunmetal will also adorn the ceiling of the car as well.

Until last night I thought about making these pieces red, but that would have been a bit much. None the less... that's about all I have on that right now.

Tonight, tonights a night for relaxing. In the next couple days I'm taking a course from Lockheed Martin (love being a gunner of types). So, its on hold until Easter weekend.

The plan, as it stands, is come Thursday night, I'll be posting links to pictures of the finished kick panels... heck, I might finish one completely tonight. Otherwise, I want to fiberglass the A-Pilars, and begin redoing the door panel. I'm going to begin with the one on the Pass. side.
Only issue, I need to come in and talk to the guy who is doing the speaker install so I know where to and where not to Fiberglass... I'm thinking to just do it, and he'll cut where is necessary.

I'm giving myself about 2 weeks on the door panels, as I'll only be working after work and on weekends...

And with that, I add that starting tomorrow, I'll be in there tinkering around, SO, unlike I previously feared... there is no longer a cause for any pause in progress on this project - minus the military schedule, eh Pawz?

Got into the garage tonight... a few things happened... finished one of the kick panels. Got the 'cover' for the steering wheel cover prepped and ready for fiberglassing tomorrow. Made the rough cut in the A-Pilar on the drivers side - this is where 8 of the indicator lights from the dash will be going. Tried a new paint out, I like it - this will be the same paint used on the other fiberglassed pieces going down the middle in the back. Here are the links to the pics:

Tomorrow, fiberglassing the A-Pilars, the same cover seen, mapping out the interior, and finishing off the other kick panel. In the afternoon, I'll likely being constructing the top cover for the back of the interior's sub-assembly. That ought to be fun.

As another quick update, The A-Pilars will also be a split pattern... mostly the carbon/paint over the fiberglassed piece, but where the 3 inch wide piece in front of the dash meets up with the bottom of the A-pilar, it'll be a black mold in with it... errr... it'll make more sense tomorrow night.

In the A-Pilar? Oh, it'll be the main 8 warning lights from the instrument face (Ie., check engine, change oil, etc...)

so, home for lunch... all I want to finish today is the sanding, filling, and smoothing of the A-pilars, getting them painted, as well as the steering wheel column cover - the FG on that one's drying as we speak, should be ready for tonight - I hope.

Other than that, things are good... the driver's A-Pilar is in the prep room, ready to be painted, the pass side still has to be filled and sanded. Should take about 2 hours to get it ready for painting.

What else... ...I might pull off the driver door panel, and get that ready for some work... shouldn't be too much I don't think... just a matter of redoing the leather, painting up the door handles, repainting the red parts, and applying the sheet metal...

We'll see how tonight goes...

I wrote a how to on it, check it out, and I hope this helps... if it doesn't, or there's some questions - just PM me, and I'll answer you. In turn, I'll post it on the thread, so that if someone else has the same question, we're slick...

So, 12:20, back from the garage... I'm tired... but here's what's done...

The Driver door panels completely ripped apart on the garage floor. The top piece is stripped, sanded, fiberglassed, and curing as we speak. In the morning, it'll be polished up and sprayed with the gunmetal colour. The other piece, the black, will be reappoulstered (sp?) tomorrow with new black material. Junk. It's cut, and the game plan is set on how I'm going to do it, but it's still going to be a bitch. As well, the other pieces are going to be repainted to the new red I'm using. Then the kick panels will be rivetted to it. What else... oh, yeah, that little green light inside the door lock switch will be replaced for blue.

That's about it for that door panel...

The center "bend" in the sub-assembly was cut, will be welded upside down, but this will all make sense once I actually finish that area.

What else... what else... oh yes, the A-Pilars are prepped for painting tomorrow morning. The forward piece on the upper dash will also be painted tomorrow - the gunmetal colour. That's all prepped and waiting to go.

Why no pictures? Because its 12:35 am, and I'm beat. So, I'm going to go to bed, but tomorrow there will be quite a few pics - 2 days worth.

Goodnight.

Not much was done today. Painted the fuse box cover - wow - and sanded down the fiberglass, I'm really beginning to hate that stuff... Anyway, as it stands, and tomorrow everything is closed, not much to be done... however, come Tuesday-Thurs, the door panel on the drivers side will be finished - except for the window crank handle... those I'm still waiting on. Eh_nigma
04-09-2007, 01:30 PM
Cav... the parts of the door are mainly held together by plastic caps from on one piece, going through holes drilled in the other one, then melted down. It's a PITA sometimes. You have to dremel the top of the caps, ever so carefully, in order to leave enough of these caps to be able to pass them through again, and screw them down. In my case it's easy - rivets will be used, otherwise, not many other options.
