Well I had to pay out the ass to have new front rotors put on today ($235 after labor) because they went from a couple squeaks to scraping constantly overnight, felt like i was out of brakes completely, anyway

im looking to go ahead and replace the rears, and I saw the deal on r1concepts, but thats for all 4, and i dont have a need for all 4 now.

ill probably stay OEM since thats what is on the front, question is, how hard is it to do the replacement?

Looking to save on the labor costs more than anything here (quoted at $75 for labor by CarX, yes I know they are expensive, but I went there cause I had lifetime warranty on the front pads so those were free)

Is there anything I need to know specifically on changing the rotors out, along with the pads in the rear, what to avoid doing or whatnot?

Thanks for the input

(first time attempting the brakes obviously)

make sure that you know what your doing first and foremost.... I'm sure you can find a good how to on the site or somewhere else on how to change rotors and pads out... shouldn't be too hard if you have all the right tools

depends on what ur level of skill is when it comes to cars....I mean honestly Pads take as long as a oil change.....Rotors ehhh not that much harder its like three more steps...just becarefull take your time...u will need a decent C clamp...Ratchet set piece of wood (used between clamp and caliper to compress caliper back) Not that hard though honest!

well reason i had rotors done today was they were rusted beyond rust basically, otherwise i would have just had the pads replaced and worried about it later....probably got duped by the guy at CarX by saying they needed replaced when they were fine in all actuallity

rusted where?

unless you seal the outside edge of the rotor with paint or clear coat they will get rusty all over again. if your pads were scraping it is very likely that the rotors were not able to be turned and still be in spec. so i'll say you didnt get duped.

^alright thanks for explaining it...thats what i hate about the different shops, they wont explain the reasoning why a part is bad

Brakes are not hard to do. If need be get a Haynes manual. If you have access it a frame lift then that will help even more.
