Hey all,
I just bought my 99' Alero. I love it!! I am in the military stationed overseas, so I actually have a german spec Alero. Some ov the functions are outstanding, wish that "we" could get them in the states. I want to start upgrading / tuning my car, were should I start?

welcome. most people do intake and exhaust first for performance and tint and rims for appearance.

Welcome aboard! Check the International Section under the Regional Discusions area. I think there's another Germany-based member there, too.

you could start with an intake/exhaust or if you want to do cheaper mods, you can clear your headlight corners or remove the door trim of your car (just use the search button)

On my Alero I started with a remote start/alarm.... then again you don't have cold Canadian winters

yeah, I spent about 7 years of my career in Germany studying broads. And beer.

Have a nice Heffe Weissen for me while you're there.

As far as where to start? heh.

If you dont' mind me asking what's an Alero worth out there? I might be moving to the UK in the next couple months and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth taking it with me.

Awesome! I lived in Germany for about 7 years myself... My dad was in the Army. We were stationed in Vilseck. You've probably heard of it if you are near munich... We took a trip to Munich a couple times.

Well the Euro spec Alero (chevy alero) is worth about 7,000 Euro, so about $8,500 (mine is a 99) but the problem is no one wants to buy them b/c thee parts are to expensive, they have to shipped from the states. I can get awat with it b/c i have an american address over here (on post). So my parts are just like sending them to New York plus alittle. My suggestion is if you love it take it. Maybe we can work together to get you what you need if anything

I have spent most of years over here in Vilseck, it is a hitlers hell, as we call it. But i am glad to know that there are others that have been here and drank the beer...LOL:yahoo:

Hmmmm...... If that's in USD like I'm assuming that's probably about $9500 CAD. Here that cars worth maybe $4000.... I'm just thinkin... Mines an 02 and i've replaced pretty much anything that can go wrong for the next 3 years. So it might actually be worth taking. Is the coupe or the 3400 available out there?

But yeah if i'm out there we'll do it up. I don't know a whole lot about cars.. I'm more a computer/electronics person.

The 3400 is available here, that is what I have. I think that the coupe is not however. well let me know when you are going to in in Europe. Maybe you can come down to Germany and drink some beer.

Yeah I loved it. Me and another friend that I studied with are planning to go back in November during our Thanksgiving break. We thought we could do the trip cheap b/c it'll be $600 for the ticket and we can live off of Doner Kebabs & go to the guy's house who runs the program and have a thanksgiving dinner over there (they always celebrate the holiday for us to make us feel like we're home). If you ever make it up to Berlin have a Berliner Weisse Kindl Rot, that is the best beer ever and surprisingly I can find it at our beers of the world store here. Love it!

I'm game. I think that's something we can all agree on. The alero might be going overseas if that's the case. I can drive a rare import lol

For a project in German class we had to fake buy cars n crap from real German sites.

I used autoscout24.de and bought an opaline blue alero.. it was I think 2800 Euros.

Take a look if you're interested in seeing what Aleros are worth and such.. there were even a few 5 speed coupes!

Anywho, welcome man :D
