since i am new to this scene. how do i got about installing dual exhaust tips in place of the stock ones?
From looking at the stock tips, it looks like they are manufactured right into the muffler, so do i need to install a new muffler? or do i disassemble the muffler, and weld the tips right in?
Any info on how you guys did it would be great...

I can't say that anybody has every put tips on a factory muffler...you could just get chrome covers, but changing the whole tip...I don't think that would work out too well for ya.

So then the Chrome covers just fit over the stock, im assuming? or again is welding gonna be involved?

No welding...in fact GM makes them for the alero. They just slide right over the tail pipe and they screw into the existing pipe. here ya go...GM Parts direct

for that price u might as well just start saving for a catback

I agree. And when I first started messing with my car I bought the "chrome" ones from autozone that ended up looking like crap (if any of the guys that saw my car can agree) and they started to rust. So just save up for a whole exhaust system.

Well these ones are stainless...I had them on my car for awhile. They're decent if you dont want to do an exhaust.

Great thanks.. ill probably look into doing that soon.. since i work at a grocery store, money is tight.. so little by little this is gonna come together.
word of advice, do it right the first time and you will save money in the long run, you learn after you waste money on shit that doesnt work and you end up buying the better item(s) afterwards

Would putting in a 3inch in with 2 2.5 outs muffler be overkill for just a cai and pacesetter headers on our 2.2? I don't know what the diameter is on the cat, cuz if it's not 3 then that whole plan wouldn't make sence...

No, depending on the car. but for a 2.2L, it will just make it sound a deeper, dpending on the tip... Bbbbuuutt in my opinion im thinking now about getting a Glass Pack.

These tips were a stock item on the Final 500's. They came welded on, not screwed. They are pretty easy to clean.

i agree with Gr1m, don't waste your money on the cheap shit, do it right the first time and get a new muffler or complete system. vbmenu_register("postmenu_267644", true);

just go to pep boys or advance auto and get yourself some tips, if your looking to go that route for now. But I would just save up and get a cat-back. You will love it.
if u go get shitty tips at autozone they will just rust on you in a month or so and u will take them off cause they look like shit
