If you really want Skyline tails do it right and redo the whole rear of the car with sheetmetal and fiberglass and such instead of just making covers.

your on the right track cause the aleros have huge tails and its just ugly, i had the same idea as you but i was going to make them into corvette tailights. I thought about the covers but i knew it wouldt look as good, so i decided to use some fiberglass to fit the corvette lights in but i lack the funds at the time. So I just went along and removed the inner taillights. I think aleros look better this way. Check out my cardomain for a before and after, I just have to get a paint job. But i dont want to spend the money on looks right now, im saving for engine mods, im trying to get the 2.3 intake manifold. Gotta SAVE!!:yahoo:

It wouldn't be impossible to mount real skyline tails on your car. They are just circles, you could cut out holes in the lenses, make a frenched bracket for them, get them color match painted and call it done. I don't think anyone will mistake your alero for a skyline though. :)

Well, i think it wouldnt match the shape of the car itself. Theres nothin wrong with having this idea, it would just look nicer if you tinted them or left them alone.

No, i was going to buy a Honda and still keep my Alero, I wanted a new project to add to me and my friends car club. But i decided against it. But recently my dad called me up and told me he bought a 93 BMW. The only thing wrong with it is the tranny or the computer. It drives fine but then sometimes the tranny doesnt want to work, so you turn it off for a few minutes and then it works fine. I might by it and work on it, not sure though.

I've had ideas like this. If you want a completely new look to the taillights, like the Skyline lights you're talking about, the best way to so it is to make clear lenses for it, and then the inside part where the reflectors are, you'd need to make a completely different piece to put in behind the lens. I don't know what Skyline lights you like, but I was thinking R34 GTR lights. You'd have the stock shape but with a clear lens, and behind the lens you'd have a large circle on the outside and a smaller circle on the inside. I'd do them in LED's and I'd also put the turn signal inside the outside circle and the reverse light inside the inside circle...if you get what I'm saying.

That actually looks pretty terrible. The way I was talking would be more like the IS300 lights, with the circle behind the lens, only I would have the housing painted black instead of chrome like on the IS, and also the clear lens tinted slightly to hide the lights a little. I thought of this awhile ago and decided that it'd take more time than I wanted to invest and even then it may not look right.

Look, who cares what you do to your car. Im not saying it will look good, but hey, dont care what other people think. Do something no one else does. If you like it, thats all that matters.

These lights are for a Maxima, and I'm not saying do them exactly like this, but this is the basic concept I'm talking about, with everything behind a clear lens. The only thing I would do is paint the chrome housing black and tint the clear lens:

Honestly, if you made lights like this and did a good job and didn't make them too gaudy, they probably wouldn't look absolutely terrible. You'd have to try it out and see I guess.

I'm with spilner on those last post's lights. It would look good on the Alero. If one pro photoshopper could try and fit something to the taillights.

I'd say change all the pattern of the existing tails. the two red circles should take all the room (even where there's the back up light and the corner light) then relocate those 2 lights somewhere in two small spots.

Something like this for instance (Ok its some paint crap but it kinda gives some idea about what I had in mind, you just gotta have some imagination haha)

You do know that there are already circles in the inner lenses. Well, actually a segment of a cirlce. It's not very visible except at night, but I think it's a pretty cool design:

http://xs115.xs.to/xs115/07203/light000001.jpg
(hard to tell from angle, but it is truly circular)

Maybe if you accentuated this circle somehow, it would be cool?

Yes you would have to change the housing so that the circles take up the whole lens. But you wouldn't just stick the reverse and turn signals anywhere, you put them in the center of the circles...just like the maxima lights...look again:

To make them like the R34 Skyline GT-R taillights, you would just make the outside circles larger than the inside circles.

What you're talking about has already been made, by Anderbra I think. He made some with LED circles right inside that part you mentioned, as well as the same spot on the outside lights. B-spot I think had them on his car.

Oh! I thought the clear part in the middle of the lens were for reflexion purpose. Of course it would be better with the reverse and corner in the middle of each circles. But I guess that would start to be some serious custom work on the tails.
