Only thing i can tell you is that once it comes out, it's not going back. I haven't heard of anyone successfully removing it without breaking the clips that hold it in place.

if ur talkin about the dome light, not that hard
if ya have a clip removal tool no prob
remove the dome light cover
go from the headliner to the dome light it`s self
carefully twist and pull with the clip tool you will break the clips but not the dome light
it`s so simple a monkey can do it...lol.....j/k

If you're talking about the dome light just leave it alone. It's next to impossible to get it back right

not the dome light, i already removed and painted it.... what i'm needing is the compartment.... by windshield... all i keep hearing is that it'll break when trying to remove..... where there's a will there's a way.... there has to be a way to remove it without breaking it...... it's gotta be :(
i tried on 3 different junkyard cars. they all broke

I havn't done it yet but I figured if you pulled the headliner out than you could get the clips fron the top

Your best bet would be to go to the dealership and order a new one. That way, once you break the original one out, you have a replacement. I doubt it cost that much.

after considering all the comments i'm going to change direction and go a different route... of course i wanted to take it off to paint it, but know i'll just make a template and hand paint an olds logo on it.... thanks for all the info!
