hello, my car was parked outside the mall for 45 minutes and when i came back my backpack containing my laptop, ipod, psp, camera, etc. was stolen. i know i shouldnt of left it on the ground of the passenger side but i did. so now the lock is popped in. does anyone know how much this would cost to get fixed or the difficulty level it would be for me to fix it?
also i tried to roll down that window and i hear a loud almost like cracking noise so i rolled it back up and just left it there. i hope i didnt mess anything up on that?

Well, it would cost you about 100 bucks or so at least for a locksmith to fix it..
And rolling the window down is a bad thing..
You most likly bent your locking rod and possibly damaged other components like your window regulator plate..
But hopefully you didnt..
You must take your interior door panelling off and assess the damage..
if you look carefully the rod that should not look in place will have a hole or small bend to accept the hole in the back of the exterior part of the door handle mech.
bent it back as best you can..
this will be all very complicated because you most liekly cant see many of the things im talking about being inside the door..
there will be plastic and padding presumably and you'll have to do all this through holes in the door sheet metal..
take some pics once you get access and I can help you more..

alright im not sure when i can take it apart yet but i asked the dealer how much it was to get fixed and it was $420 with parts and labor and $580 with parts including new door handle(if needed) and labor. do i need a new lock or can i just put it back in there sort of?

Ohhhh..
Your key hole is pushed in as well ?
Then it is most likely ruined..
You'll have to try to see if you can still use the key in it, and the clip that holds the cylinder in place is off probably hopefully intact in the bottom of your door.. its U shaped and made of wire most likly
if your key cylinder is ruined it will be expensive to fix completly
you could potentially if the cylinder is ruined put the cylinder back in place
and disable the lock with super glue (keeping in mind if its ruined it will unlock with a simple flat head screw driver) so diable it and hopefully you got power unlock..
whatever you do.. dont put your window down again untill fixed..

Well sounds like it sucks, next time dont have the whole circuit city store in your car
same thing hpeened to me if all parts are there most likely the plastic clips holding the cylinder are just broken. i just re assembled the cylinder to the handle and the rod to the handle then used construction adhesive to hold the cylinder in place..it worked pretty awsome..but then again i dont use my key to open the door anyways..pull ur door panel off and look to see what the damage is like those prices for fixing it are redic.

I'd be pissed... same thing happened with my cavalier... ended up getting a whole new door and they replaced a bunch of random stuff (didn't care since insurance paid for it)

it is the passenger door so i dont need to use the key on it ever and i have power locks, so can i just basically put it back and then use an adhesive to hold it on? or what else?

Insurance probally only give me a little money but nothing compared to how much it would be to buy the new stuff. there is also a $500 deductible. and i had that stuff with me because i wasn't going to be home over the weekend.
