UPDATE March 4, 2004 ok i understand the other company was really expensive and actually they were in california so finding a test subject would have added a problem for me...also they would not go much cheaper, i have found another company though that would do it for cheaper, but not in quality wise, actually i am fairly sure i will be able to stop by their shop and couple times during the process and watch as they come along, it is no longer a game of numbers as far as a group buy like 5 or ten people, i am looking at this as a total business investment, but before i pursue it any farther i am wondering who is interested, the price i am looking at right now will be $500 plus shipping, does that sound better to you guys? let me know and continue posting with other questions....thank you, Kyle

UPDATE March 8, 2004ok, ok, i could probably get it a little lower, but damn all these people are like sweet, i'm interested, then it's too expensive, now it's $300 cheaper and still too expensive or what? damn...people....anyways as oldsman said on page 3, is there any other scoop that people could agree on more, i mean i'm trying to see what people could agree on the most before i drop a bunch of my dough into this project.....thanx, Kyle

maybe a classic olds scoop? that would be tight, something not done before on any import, kind of embraces our motto "the new generation of olds"

A price, and if it uses stock mounting hardware, or if you need hood pins..

jonez

Another concern for my due to my location would be the cost for shipping. Usually things are pretty costly. Also would it be all up front. Or a half and half typr deal.

Maybe it is just the picture, but it looks like it doesn't fit right. The drivers side looks like it isn't flush.

yes, it may not look flush, but we are getting whole new hoods made with a ss scoop, should fit and look better if you like the ss style like i do.....

jonez

If it fits right and looks like the one in Pimp's picture it should look tight. Just waiting on the price.

Count me out now...lots of better things to do to my car right now than dropping a grand for a custom hood. good luck to all and keep posted on how things go.

^^Well, import CF hoods can be found for 400 something bux these days. When customcargrills (I think) was offeriing them for us, it was for 600 or so bux. I doubt it'll be as high as 1000 bux.

Dangit, i was just about to change it b4 anyone read it. Well, too late now . 800 is asking alot. That's almost the price of the OSV kit.

When I saw the post I was like "HELL YEA" But the price....eh not that much available funds now. Seems about right but way out of my range :(

jonez
04-07-2004, 12:03 PM
Question, 800 is a lot. I was thinking 600 at most. I understand we have to pay for the molding cost and other things. This should be a one time fee though. So if more people sign up will that drop the price. Like right now it is 5 people at 800, so if we got ten would it make it like 700 or even 600?

Pimpalero03
04-07-2004, 01:09 PM
um 800 is way to much. if that is the price then im out

Sportalero
04-07-2004, 01:56 PM
I think you guys who are really interested should get in on this and agree on a more reasonable price. But before Alero_Boy goes to the guy about lowering the price, the interested ones should have the funds "in hand" so the guy knows how serious this is. Just my 2 cents.

Naich
04-07-2004, 03:30 PM
I wonder if the price would be lower with more people...

Sportalero
04-07-2004, 03:37 PM
^^Yeah, is 4000 the actual amount of five people, or is 4000 the amount he needs to even start the project, because in that case, i'm pretty sure it would be easier to get ten peeps to come up with 400 bux.

Well just to let you all know that the one that custumcargrills sold did not use the stock hinges so if this hood uses the hinges then it might be worth it. I would hate to see all this happen again but when everything starts off everyone is interested but when it comes to the money you cant find anyone, just as a warning.

yiddishbdg
04-08-2004, 12:08 AM
mine has the mounting points molded in carbon fiber, and uses the stock hinges. The fitment, though not perfect, is not that bad in person. May try some things to smooth that out this summer.

Nikatrel
04-08-2004, 12:41 PM
I would say try and get more people in on this. I'll be willing to pay $500 + shipping.... nothing more. But would maybe like to see less. :)

jonez
04-08-2004, 02:50 PM
I agree we need to talk to this guy and see if the more we purchase the more the price will go down. I think that $500 would be my limit.

just to make sure this hood is carbon fiber with ss scopes

Crazytaxi37
04-10-2004, 07:15 PM
Still need to know whether or not this hood is two sided and if it uses the stock hardware. Factory attachments or hood pins?

Crazytaxi37
04-10-2004, 07:18 PM
I'm not too suprised at the price of 500+shipping. That is a good price. Here a couple of ideas that spring up about the hood.

Has anybody thought about a cowl induction hood? classic look simple styling and functional?

kwhauck
04-10-2004, 09:37 PM
ok, i like those ideas, need more ideas though so we can all get a view of different hoods, then maybe post a poll, also if we go through with this i can offer a special introductory price of $400 plus shipping for everybody who gets in on this right away, that is as cheap as import hoods.....

Pimpalero03
04-10-2004, 09:48 PM
what about a 96 svo style with those nostrols on the sides toward the top of hood. i cant find a pic right now

Final-Reality
04-11-2004, 11:56 AM
Gee I wonder why these never work out. Everybody bunnying wants a different hood scoop. Most of them too ugly to bear... (the "nostril" scoop is particularly ugly...)

SouthDakotAlero
04-12-2004, 11:42 PM
For $500 I'd be interested if the scoop looks alright.

jonez
04-13-2004, 03:32 AM
I like the one crazytaxi posted better than the ss style. Still could go for the ss stlye though.

geedog66
04-13-2004, 09:14 AM
if there is a solid price i can give some money right now im decided because i dont which u guys want to go with

we need to narrow it down to one choice someone start a poll or something all this waiting is goin to make me get something else for my car

Naich
04-13-2004, 11:10 AM
lol, that nostril one brings back bad memories. That was one of my first photoshops... and I paid $450 for that hood and the guy who was making it disapeared. Despite what Final says, I still think that style would look the best on Aleros out of all the ones pictured.

SouthDakotAlero
04-13-2004, 11:43 AM
I wouldn't mind the ss scoop. I don't know about the others though.

dopey
