Hey there, I don't post much on this forum, my focus is mainly on my RX7. but I figured I would post up a vid of my latest trip to the track. No, not for drag racing. I was at a lapping day at Dunnville Autodrome on the 21st of may. I had originally planned on taking my RX-7, but due to feeling unsafe about the overall condition of the car, I took the Alero instead.

It was a lot of fun actually. The alero did alright. It was easy to drive, and exibited the general FWD tendancies to understeer heavily, along with the very much underpowered stock brakes which did put a stopper in my time on the track. Brake fade was horrible after about 5 or 6 laps, so I had to go off and let it cool. Nothing broke though and the car drove home in the same condition as when I got there. No warped rotors or damage to anything else. The tires did take a beating because of the weight of the car, but thats alright. It was loads of fun. Here is a little vid of my best laps.

Any constructive critisism is appreciated. It was my first time ever on a track with any car, so I think i did alright. But I would say an alero is a good car to take out on your first time. Easy to drive at the limit, doesn't really exibit any bad tendancies besides the understeer, and way too much weight transfer from the rear wheels under braking.

looks like fun! no offense but on your best run looked like you took some of those corners to nicely and slow... but prolly diff. in real wish we had something like this around me....

Nice video though :)
Push it alittle harder next time.. see what you can do.... you only will slide out into grass.. not really goign to hurt yoru car much

Yeah I was holding back a little as I just wasn't brave enough I guess. I know I could have gone faster, but some of those corners were pretty tight and understeer was horrid like I said. Didn't wanna hurt anything either as I need to drive this car everyday. Excuses everywhere.

As for exhaust, its a gutted cat (gotta get a high flow in there), with stock piping and a magnaflow 4x8x14 on the back. Most of what you hear is actually the intake at the high rpms, real short ram style. 90* out of the throttle body to a 20* and the cone filter on the end. There was a noticable difference going to the short ram from my previous one that put the filter up where the stock air box was.

real nice.

i could tell you were getting more confident with the car and track as you continued the run. all that takes time, glad to know you had fun though!

Yeah I was getting quiet confident near the end. Brake fade was the biggest enemy. The last few laps on the track were great, and brake fade was holding me back. My rotors are actually bluish in colour now, that just shows how hot they were getting. They didn't warp though, which is a very good thing. There were a couple corners I just never got comfortable with, always took them too slowly. The most fun was the last hairpin just before the sweeper to the front straight. There was plenty of room to mess up on it, and I had loads of fun just throwing the car into that corner.
