I was working on getting a signal into the stock head unit from something like a computer or MP3 player. This is what I found from a 1997 delco cassette player head unit:

(its this website b/c the pics take up a lot of space)

The head unit that I did this on looks like this:

can't see your pic bro, so i don't know quite what your talkin about. I got an EQ with cd(1/4 inch headphone jack) and rca inputs that i'm gonna put in this spring. I can hookup my mp3 player and PS2 at the same time! I'm pretty stoked because i'm gonna splice off the rear speakers with LOCs, be able to keep them going if i want to, and get an extra 2 sets of speakers and a suboutput off the EQ. I'm fiberglassen 2 corner sub enclosures like wrighties, running a set of 6x9s off an amp in the backdash, and putting components in the arm things by the back passengers arms off an amp as well.

the eq i bought has 2 inputs built in to it. i push a button on the eq to switch the input source from the radio to the ps2 or mp3 player. I don't have it hooked up yet but soon, i wanna have it done before oldsmans meet.

No link available, as you can see from the sticker it was purchased at cash converters for $20 cnd. Its a coustic EQ-1100, When power is attached the levels have red LEDs on them. You can also see that it has a little black window on the left beside the fader slider that has 4 gain controls behind it, the CD input on the front, along with a 9V DC power out to power a portable device (which i wont be using). On the back you can see 2 sets of RCA inputs (one will be from my radio obviously, and the other will be my LCD device whether it be my PS2, Nintendo, or whatever i want audio thru my speakers from, yeah no more FM modulator needed). On the back you can see 3 sets of speaker outputs(one for subs, one for rears, and one for fronts). My front speakers are gonna stay factory for now just for fill sound. My rears radio speakers are gonna go into an LOC and go into one of the inputs. From there I'm gonna hook front and rear outputs off the EQ into one 4 channel amp and put 6x9's in the dash, and 5 1/4 and tweets in the rear arm rest things by the back passengers (i've already had those things out when i reupholstered them and there's just alot of foam and empty space behind them). The sub output is gonna go to a 2nd bridged amp that will be going to 2 10's in fiberglassed enclosures at the back of my trunk by the lights like wrighties. I hope to have this done in time for oldsmans bbq

Now my turn for a question, does anyone know what colour the wires are for the rear speakers off the back of the deck? I wanna run the LOC up front close to my EQ which will be underneath my steering wheel, and then run RCA's to the amps in the trunk. I think this would be the best way to go.

thanks tenny, what do you think of the eq, i'm sure other companies make something similar, and what about the idea with components in the back, i just got my whole back seat out and i'm getting ready to cut the holes . After double checking i now see that its 4 inch orion mids with 1' tweets that i'm putting in the back.

the eq idea looks good you'll have to let me know how it works, i'd like ot have a hookup for a MP3 player in my car and was thinking of adding an EQ to the stock system so that I have better control over the sound quality.

not sure about components in the rear... i'm sure it will sound good as long as you have subs. Some people dont like any sound at all comming from the back except for the subs.
