Pioneer has a pretty cool GPS/DVD/CD/XM/ipod unit. (Avic-D3)

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with this unit in thier Alero. I have searched the forums but could not find any info on this model. If you have one, let me know what you think of it.
Even better, if you have any pics please post them. thanks

the AVIC D3 definitely looks like a nice unit. I have a double-din GM navigation unit in my Alero. It may be a tight fit, or require a little modification but it should work.

I'd like to get a unit that has some kind of ipod integration besides the auxillary input. I like the idea of being able to run a cable to the glove compartment and having the option of controlling the ipod from the deck. Also for the use of playing videos off of the ipod. I don't really like the styling of the single-din models.
are there any other models under $1000 that are worth looking at?

what vehicle did your Nav unit come from? Will the Cadillac models work? (with little modification)

2005 Buick Rendezvous. It's the only one that has the right color of backlighting on it. You also need one that is not designed for the Lux audio system for it to work right.

I had to trim some of the dash frame around the edges and the actual frame around the nav screen.

I will be buying the avic d3 from best buy later this week and putting it in my 2001 alero gl. Anyone know if they make kits or harnesses for it? OR will this be a completely custom job for me? I will be throwing some pics up down the road, when its all done!
I'm excited :yahoo:

id imagine you might have to use a backstrap to hold it in. Plus im not sure ( i have the Z2 in the acura) but they dont come with trim rings anymore either. Proble have to cut the same as you would on the normal radio's since they dont have separate brain boxes anymore.

That can fill around it to make it look somewhat stock?
