Rust Proof Rotors?

Looking for replacement rotors that don't rust. Research has come up with Centric Black Hat and Raybestos Advanced Technology (I think they're phasing out Quiet Stop, which in any case rust). Does anybody have feedback on these or other brands? Don't want to pay an arm and leg for real high performance. Something middle ranged. Thanks.

do you live in a cold climate that gets snow in the winter time. in other words..... are the roads salted where you live?

if so...... there is nothing you can do to prevent rust.

SweetNLow is right. I had the back rotors on mine rust right through. All you can really do is just drive it, and if you're parking for not driving the car for 4 or 5 months keep it somewhere that's not humid, and if it is just sand the rust off periodically.

Or just buy super cheap crappy rotors and replace em when the old ones rust... probably the most economical way.

I put new rotors on my car like around a year ago and living right down by the beach my rotors are already starting to rust, so theres no prevention to rust homie

im in arizona and mine rust a very little bit except for the rears but that is a whole nother issue ... just goes to show you that rust happens no matter where you live

get rotors made of titanium (i think they sell them, but probably not for our cars)

If you get R1 rotors they zinc coat them to help pervent rust.

i painted my rotors front and rear, then sanded the pad surface off, i live in south texas where rust is prominent, and i have no rust problems with my rotors, but my car is also garage kept.

I sell cross-driled/slotted/zinc-coated rotors We'll be having a sale on them over the upcoming weekend.

Even the zinc-plating will wear off where the pad contacts the rotor.
Any iron rotor will show surface rust eventually....you can't fight chemistry at work.
Now if you want to bust the bank on custom carbon-ceramic rotors with aluminum hats (a la the new Vette ZR1), they will not rust.

Just paint those fuckers with high temp paint every where but the braking surface and be done with it. They could coat them with jesus's sperm and they would still rust eventually. LOL

I don't know what's different in the metal, but my Baer rotors don't rust nearly as fast as my original ones did.

Hm,

Does rusted rotors cause your car to break like in steps? When I brake it feels like bump. go. bump. go. bump until I finally stop.

those are probably warped. rust might have worn away a little of the thickness, but i think thats from stopping really quickly when they are cold. rapid heated from cold, then going cold again...etc.

i could be wrong.

- you can tell rotors are warped because braking pulses.. and if you take them off and look at them
- carbon fiber rotors? wtf?
- people do make stainless steel lines, you just get to attach them. not really much of a "kit", more like, get the right size A/N fittings and SS braided lines and hook it up
