I have an Alpine CDA-9807 and i am having some trouble getting it into the existing stock radios spot. The trim piece for around the radio also doesnt fit around the head unit. How do you guys get your head units in and is there anything i can do to make it go smoother?

1st problem... wrong section... should be in audio/video...
2'd problem... if you had looked in the correct section.. you would see that with lots of head units it is neccicary to cut the rear part of the dash inbehind of the headunit for clearance.. so that the deck kit is all the way flush...
Oh well it happens
if its the accual head unit that the trim is binding on... if so you may need to make some clearance in behind, and then mount the deck farther back in the kit... if possible.

I know its a tizight fit... but i fit my 7893 in without cutting... and its like 95% right... allthou i am gunna hack my dash when i have a dremel handy lol :P

I used the American International kit and I had to shave a bit off the side of the kit next to one of the screw brackets to get the dash kit itself to fit flush into the space in the dash. I don't have an Alpine, but if the kit isn't fitting into the dash quite right it won't matter what kind of headunit is in there. When I tried to fit the empty dash kit into the dash, it stuck out enough that the top of the bezel wouldn't snap into place all the way. After I trimmed the dash kit, the bezel fit nicely, then once I put my headunit (Pioneer) in the kit, I still had to trim some plastic out of the back so that the kit would fit all the way in like it did when it was empty.

Hey Man...
I've got a Kenwood KDC-722 deck, which is 7 x 1-15/16 x 6-1/2 inch... looking on Alpine's site, yours is only 6-1/4 inch deep, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem for you to fit in. Like the other guys said, you'll need to do some cutting, as our stock decks are only 5-3/8 inch deep from the mounts and 6-3/16 inch deep from the front...
After cutting out the black plastic that sits at the back though, you shouldn't have any problems. It took me only about 5 mins with the dremel to make the chassis big enough to fit it. Now, when it starts to get nice out here, I'm going to be shaving down the top part of the mounting kit so that the trim will sit flush.

If you need any help with this, PM me and I'll do my best..
