So would just any OBD II be able to perform this procedure?
Specifically a MAC Tools Mentor... It is able to clear codes so would this device be able to do the relearn procedure?
I asked a few instructors at my school but they werent giving me any solid answers so i came here before i make the pcm buy.
or the snap on one also? i think its the solus

since u have access to those u dont have the gm scanner? I cant remember the name of it for the life of me right now. Just those scanners can only access codes and clear them and monitor different things like maf voltage and injector pulse width n shit like that. You cant actually change settings that are permenantly coded in the pcm itself

not sure ill ask tomorrow so clearing is totally different from the relearn? one of the instructors said you can clear whatevers there and then drive the car to relearn but im not sure he knew what i was trying to do exactly

clearing it the car won't even run, unless you are just clearing the codes. most dealerships now use laptops to hook up to the pcms to do all their work, and that route they can get updates for your car to flash to your pcm. I've never heard of an off brand scanner (i know MAC and SNAP-ON aren't off brand but its not GM) being able to reflash, but thats just my 2 cents.

gm's is a tech 2
yeah that shit was on the tip of my tongue but even the tech 2 cant reprogram ur pcm, all the scan tools are designed to do is fix a problem and get voltage reading and clear some codes, seriously u cant change a pcm's data that was writtin for a car inless u actually buy hp tuners or a pcm that has been designed for that car, and with 3400 v6's they make a custom tune for it.

The Tech 2 can re-flash your PCM, however you can't customize it. All the dealer would do is download a flash file with the SPS software and load it on the Tech 2 and then flash the PCM or BCM, etc...
