I'm sure there are some of you that know what this is, but for those of you that don't know, I'll explain. It's a device used to adjust air/fuel ratio. It taps into the mass air flow sensor and tricks it into reading different readings. It is has two settings: base and WOT. Both are adjustable from 50% rich to 50% lean. Yes it is designed for the F-Body and the Grand National, but so far it seems to work on my car. Before I put it on the car, my AF meter used to read about two bars into the rich side. I put the MAFT onto my car and adjusted to 15% lean base and 4% rich at WOT, making it 11% lean at WOT. Now my meter has been reading right in the middle of Stoich. It seems to work so far, I am going to adjust it more lean once the computer gets used to this setting.

How did I come upon this? Well, I work with a guy that has a really nice '99 Formula. He was telling me about the MAFT he had on his car and what it does. We went outside to look at it and it appeared that it would plug into my MAF sensor no problem, so we tried it and it worked. He's letting me borrow it for a couple of weeks so I can decide whether or not I want to buy it. He will sell it to me for $30. They go new for $150.

I'll let you guys know if it works out. So far it seems to. I just thought I would share this, because it is a very inexpensive option to buying a fuel pressure regulator and a chip. You can find them used for anywhere from $50-$100 on the F-Body sites.

i currently have the translator plus on my car which does all the above and allows you to pull time as well. being boosted it has helped out tremendously. i have been running it for about 3 months with now problems other than gas milage droped a bit becuase of the addtion of fuel at WOT

Just an update on this, not trying to string out the topic or anything, just wanted to let you guys know what is going on. Well, I'm still getting the same reading on my AF meter as I stated in my original post, and this thing does make a difference on the top end. By seat of the pants, it feels like maybe 5-10 hp. It pulls stronger to the shift points, and takes off a little better from a standing start. For the price, I think it's worth it.

I am completely happy with mine. I would have to agree it is well worth the money spent on it. the only difference is i have the translator plus which allows you to adjust timing a little bit. i went to the track last sat and ran 15.5 at 89 mph and then i pulled the timing (connected the wire instead of bypass) and ran a 14.91 at 91 mph. So it does make a difference

You can see on mine where you could put knobs to adjust the timing. I guess you can send the box in for an upgrade if you wanted to. Are those times at Bandy? That's pretty good, breaking into the 13's at sea level.

yes these are at bandimere. i thought they were really good for a 77 degree day. i hope to do a little more fine tuning to get a bit lower. this is by far one of the best mods a person could do to their car and it is simple to install as well.
