Hey all i have a quick question i wanted to run past u guys to get ur imput before i go ahead and tackle this.

Here we go my drivers side window was doing the moaning thing and stuttering on the way for a little while.

then today i was getting hoem from driving my car around (just replaced hub) and go to roll windows up and SNAP CRACKEL POP. The whole things goes to shiv sounds like the indside of the door fell apart.

when i jimmy rigged the window up it does not move up evenly and seems to be off it's track*.

So do you guys thiunk it's the regulator or just those littel clips that move it up and down??

dealership will have them for about $9 each. It could be a regulator as well, hope its not that, those run $120 minimum.

ehhh i do not think its the regulator door is apart and those clips are busted to hell. Any tell tale signs the regulator is shot?

once the window is out hook the controls up and try to roll the window up and down, if the part on the regulator that the clips bolt to moves you are fine. If not its time for a new one. From the way it sounds its just the clips.

all right here goes..... The one closest to the lock, the plastic piece is the busted (the piece attached to the window witch is bolted to the medal piece) The one closest to the hinge the piece that slide up and down on the regulator is busted off so the piece attached to the window appears fine. (if that makes any sense.) The whole thing is jsut buggin the Crap out of me its really startign to nickel and dime me everytime i fix one thing something else goes. I litteraly did the hub yesterday morning and this happened late last night, the hub was a breeze this seesm like a serious PITA to fix, and of course my shiltons has nothing on it.

if the part attached to the regulator is broken then you sadly need a new regulator. It is no harder than what you are doing now, six more bolts if i remember correctly. Just look closely to see if that part can be reattached to the regulator, or better yet take a pic for us to look at, i will be able to better help you then.

Well i let my girl friend borrow my camera (she is goign down to cleveland for hewr best friends weeding planning crap) I borrowed these pictures from another thread. this pictures shows the piece that is bolted from the window that attaches it to the regulator, well the bolt is where the plastic piece broke on on the one closest to the door lockhttp://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c349/Mischief007/Step2NewPiece.jpg

and on the other one.. Where the plastice piece is on the regulator (the one that sliddes up and down) broke on the other part. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c349/Mischief007/Step5RegulatorOut.jpg

does that help??

ok after more digging, the part attached to the window is refered to as the sash! now evidentally the plastice part that raises and lowers the window is the "guide" u can purchase guides now indavidualy so i should not need the whole new regulator thank god.

if you do need a regulator, ebay! the regulator and motor is only like 50 and a regulator by itself without the motor is about 30. just bought one for me. again...

Any tell tale signs the regulator is shot?

I've had a few signs a regulator is bad. One is that it sounds horrid, like cracking ice. Also, sometimes the window might not go the right direction, like if you push the switch to go down, but it goes up.

I had to use a chisel to get it off....just don't get too rough and keep a low angle and the glass will be fine

That's what my dad and I used as well. I did it on a coupe and you pray that the glass won't shatter .

be careful with getting a regulator from ebay (if you haven't done so yet) I got mine, and the listing said it was for a alero coupe but when i got it, it was for a g/a coupe which is fine, they both work, but mine is still slow like the old one and the controls are reverse, I.E. up is down and down is up..I'm still confused about that one...it works so I'm not gonna worry about it right now..I've got bigger problems...Hope this helps..
